I am a woman from Gaza — a mother, a survivor, a dreamer.
I fled my home with my children in my arms as bombs fell around us. I left behind everything: my memories, my clothes, my wedding dress, my daughters’ toys. Our house, once filled with laughter, is now a pile of rubble I may never see again.
Today, I live in a tent. Not a home. A fragile piece of fabric that barely protects us from the cold, the heat, and the eyes of strangers. I try to keep my daughters warm at night, rock them to sleep when they cry from hunger, and hold back my own tears because I have to be strong — for them.
Every Day is a Battle
My battle now is not just with war — it’s with life itself.
How do I feed my children today?
Where can I find diapers?
How do I calm my baby when I can’t even give her clean water?
The sound of drones is constant. We’ve heard it so long that it’s no longer terrifying — it’s just part of life. And that, in itself, is terrifying.
And Yet, I Still Dream
Despite it all, I dream. I dream of a home filled with safety. I dream of finishing my education, of becoming something meaningful, of showing my daughters that their mother didn’t give up.
I don’t want pity. I want a chance. I want dignity. I want peace.
I am not just surviving — I am hoping. I am fighting to keep the light alive in my daughters’ eyes.
