Closing the book
I woke up annoyed this morning. My mind had dreamed a dream that I did not desire. It dreamed of a passion long lost, with a person whom I no longer associated myself with. This dream and the hour thereafter led me to believe that I needed to reach out to this person, so... I wrote a letter to my ex. While the letter was more for me and what used to be my sanity, I incorporated into it my heartfelt apologies. I was not always the kindest guy, but I needed her to know that I was in the wrong. That pride and pain had guided my hand, where I should have been strong. Her initial response was full of venom, but rightfully so. You see, that letter was for me, and she was only CC'ed. So I got to writing again, this time sending out a honest rendition of how I knew that I made that first letter as a way to mask my own selfishness, but also admitting to the faults of my past. I was wrong in how I treated her and I knew that it was too late to repair any of that damage, but I wished her nothing but prosperity in her future. Her response was to attempt to belittle me after saying how kind my words were...huh? Excuse me miss, but I don't believe that I've pointed out any of your ill doings, so why bring up mine and then say that there is no hope of a future friendship? The notion was not lost on me from the start. I'm not looking to be friends with the woman who lied to me throughout our entire relationship. I just don't want my soul to be tormented by how our last encounter ended. Thankfully, I've been able to keep my peace and put this all behind me, leaving all This nonsense and negativity behind. This book has finally concluded after 10 years and I couldn't be more ecstatic.
