The time that most students always waited for arrived, end of classes for the day and the travel back home. 

Soraka started to pack her things, taking extra care to not disturb the sleeping Shisa inside her backpack, eyes glancing through the window every once in a while. There would be a metheor shower on that night and she wondering if it would be dark enough to watch from the city, perhaps the park would be dark enough to show a better nightsky.

Maybe one of her friends would like to join her? It wouldn’t hurt to ask.

The mint haired girl signed and, after she had finished gathering her things, she went to the front of the school to wait for the others.

Riven yawned as she stood up from her seat, her spine setting off like fireworks as she worked the sleep out of her bones. 

Gods did she hate coming to class. 

It was just droning about a subject for hours without end with an occasional question from some student, or an answer to a question the teacher presented to the class.  Honestly if she didn't have to at least not get kicked out of class she would never show up. She already knew all the material after all.

Stuffing her hands into her pockets Riven made her way to the courtyard. It was still relatively early perhaps she could make it to the arcaded...

A quiet yelp brings Riven back to reality. Looking down Riven instantly recognized who she had bumped into someone. After all she was one of the many in her charge. Guardian. “Ahhh sorry miss. I was lost in thought.”

Riven smiled sheepishly as she offered her hand to the green haired guardian. “I didn't hurt you did I?”

Giving gifts are a way of showing one’s affection to another right? I do that a fair deal…though I suppose that’s not something really unique to someone you ‘love’ is it.

I suppose when I truly care for someone I simply like to share with them. The things I’ve seen, the places I go. Beautiful sceneries, places of nonsensical fun. I just wish to share what I’ve experienced with them. Everything and anything.

Now that’s something I haven’t thought about in a long time. I believe it was around…nineteen sextillion, eight hundred ninety quintillion, ten quadrillion, ninety-nine trillion, eight hundred two billion, one hundred ninety-four million, one hundred twenty-seven thousand, nine hundred ninety-three years ago. 

Yes it was just after my one hundred ninety-second birthday. It was way before I had earned a name. A one night with a rather strong Dark Star that had taken a fancy to me. I killed him a few years after. The fool thought himself stronger.

Marriage…that is the strange human custom you partake in to ‘tie yourself’ to another, right? I am not against it, but why would someone want to tie themselves to me? I hardly think I am someone worthy of such devotion. Besides isn’t love something required to even perform the ceremony?

I do not know its truly possible for me to fall in love. Don’t get me wrong I can grow to care for someone but…to love. The concept just seems so…

I do not know. I want to believe what I feel for Lux is love. I…we Darks Stars don’t love. Not like you humans do. And despite how much time I’ve spent among you humans I fear that old mindsets are hard to change. I do not want to hurt her.

Yes…

As I’ve stated before we Dark Stars do not love or care for others in the normal sense of the word. We dominare, take, conquer. Anyone we would consider our ‘partner’ would be considered an object for us to use. Whether it be for sex…or for venting our anger.

That is the name she goes by officially. 

Riven prefers to stay out of sight and out of mind. Through the years she has found that wearing baggy jackets with hoodies tend to keep people from paying her any mind.

She is in her first year of college because of course she is. She always is, it keeps her close to the Guardians. 

In the rare instance that she attends her class’s she sits far in the back and stares outside the classroom windows, ignoring the class as a whole and waiting to be dismissed. 

Most times she can be found in the arcades instead of classes. The various games ranging from rhythm to fighter keep her far more engaged with the world then any amount of time spent in the classroom. For what it's worth she does not blame the teachers or the subject they preach. Not at all. It is simply hard to keep engaged in a subject you've heard thousands of times before. 

Most importantly the Guardians do not know of her presence. As it should be. As it must remain. She was their ally in the shadows, out of sight from them...and from her fellow Dark Stars.

"Riven!" Lux beams from her apartment window down at the other. She looks decidedly excited, and like she'd jump out of the window if she could. Which she still might do because she can fly after all but somehow doing so in broad daylight seems a bad idea. "What took you so long to get here?"

“Sorry!”Riven called up with a bright smile. Shaking her head Riven couldn’t help but chuckle at Lux’s antics. She looked half ready to jump down and tackle her intoa hug, and while Riven wouldn’t mind such a display…it was probably for thebest to not scare her neighbors.

“I went to go feed thestrays…and pick up your gift.” Riven held up a simple white box with a pink bowattached to the top. Around its sides holes could be seen, too small to peek into but big enough for Riven to fit her fingers through. 

“I’ll be up in a minuet love.Try and hold your excitement till then.”
