“Her daughter’s my date. I’m gonna pull her aside and ask for her blessing, like the gentleman I am.”
❛ Nice. Did you wrangle that just so you could spike the punch? ——
brysondevil:
“Who’d attend if there wasn’t?” He raised a flask. “Best to be prepared though.”
❛ Care to share? ——
notyourprettybirdie:
“If I can find someone to help me spike the punch while I distract the Headmistress, then yes. You game?”
❛ Oh, I'm game. How are you gonna distract her? ——
❛ Please, SOMEONE tell me there’ll be alcohol at this ball. ——
howlingorion:
Night. That was all he got from her. Years of a relationship wasted on the fact that she broke his heart, and not that he couldn’t forgive her– that she couldn’t forgive herself. Orion nodded his head, watching as she left. Look back, he thought to himself. Look back, please. Just… look back if you love me. But she never looked back, and Orion waited awhile after she left to look down at his math homework. He should’ve stopped her. Orion should’ve fought for her. He frowned, gripping onto his book. “Don’t go.” He whispered, but it was too late. She had left him again.
- end -
howlingorion:
He should stop her. He knew from that second he should go up to her now and beg her not to go until she admitted anything to why she did was she did. Hel was not one to cry and he knew that, but it just assured him that she did feel something for him and breaking his heart wasn’t for nothing. But he knew better to know she wouldn’t admit that. And he couldn’t wait for her forever. “Night.” He said, quickly, shutting his text book and standing up. Orion collected his things and gave her a quick look, almost pausing to see if she would stop him.
She couldn’t meet his gaze. There was a tension in the air that was waiting to be filled with something. And if this were a play, this would be the part where they would suddenly realize their silly differences and rush into a loving embrace. But life wasn’t a play; at least, not the kind that Hel watched. After all, Shakespeare wrote two types of plays: comedies and tragedies. And this? This certainly wasn’t a comedy. So Hel just collected her books into her arms and gave him a short nod. “Night.” And she turned on her heel and walked away, not having enough courage to look back.
howlingorion:
“You deserve it? You left me, Hel. It’s not like you did something terrible… I can’t say I forgive you for any of that. I can’t say I was mad over it… or sad. But I can say that I can’t hate you. No matter what you did.” He muttered quietly, looking at her carefully.
She turned away from him, pressing the heels of her hands into her eyes and taking in racking gulps of air. For a few long moments, that was the only sound in the room as Hel tried to calm herself, but eventually she was composed enough to rise to her feet unsteadily, holding her chin high and proud despite how red her eyes were. He was too good for her. She saw that now. Her mind was an inner turmoil, multiple thoughts racing through her head and tripping over each other, but one instinct rose above the others: the flight response. “I - I should go,” she mumbled, trying to keep her voice even. “It’s late.”
howlingorion:
“I could never hate you, Hel.” Orion said quickly, avoiding his eyes as he lowered his hands from her face. “I never have, I don’t know, and I never will.”
“But I broke your heart!” she cried. Somehow, it was worse than he didn’t hate her. She needed him to understand, needed something to match the guilt threatening to swallow her whole. “You l-loved me, and I left you.” Her voice caught on the word ‘love’, and she felt a wave of bitterness pass through her at how she could hardly even say the word. “It would make sense for you to hate me. I deserve it.”
charmedethan:
— “You want me to teach you? Sure, for starters what kind of magic do you have and how much control do you have over it.” He smiled softly, “I honestly thought you’d hate me, since I’m the headmasters son. I’m glad you don’t.”
⚡ She raised her hand, allowing a small flame to thread up her arm and over her fingers.
❛ This. I can’t really control it when I’m mad, but most other times I can control it pretty well. ——
⚡ She gave him a guarded look.
❛ Yeah, well, I’m still reserving judgement on whether or not to hate you, so don’t fuck it up. ——
howlingorion:
“What did you think was going to happen?” He asked, his eyes flashing red for a moment before it disappeared at the look on her face. Orion never meant for her to cry, he didn’t know she felt like that. “You could torture me, Hel. You could torture me and I wouldn’t blame you, or hate you…” He whispered, moving closer to her. “You might’ve left me, but I’m not leaving you.” Orion finished softly, cupping her face and pressing a kiss to her forehead. He wiped her tears with his thumbs.
She let out a strangled sob, trying to ignore how badly she wanted to lean into his embrace. “Why are you so good to me?” she choked out. “You should hate me. You should.”
