Fun With Big Sis Sorry for the lack of updates everyone, =__=;;;; I’ve unfortunately been wasting a lot of time playing Pokemon Moon. >->;;; It’s been a loooong time since I’ve invested this much time in a Pokemon game. I can’t really explain why either. Maybe some of the new features implemented have streamlined the game to such a degree that I can’t help but play it. Here’s one of the cosplays I wore there: Minus 8′s Shygal/Shygirl. : >  I had a lot of fun! The most fun was probably playing in the Smash Bro’s tournament like this. xD Nobody could see my expressions while I played, and it made winning certain matches more funny than they’d have been otherwise! INCOMING LONG RANT Sorry for my lack of ‘real’ updates recently. I came down with a small cold recently, but I’m finally getting over it, so expect me to post some stuff.

For starters here’s a small sketch I did after the recent Pokemon Sun & Moon demo leaks. Sadly, it seems as though Beltigre has been confirmed as Litten’s final evolution.

I hate to be “that person”, but I really don’t like this design. Normally, I’m not ever disappointed by a third stage Pokemon, mostly because I think the end result usually works, at least from an evolutionary standpoint. But unfortunately Beltigre just doesn’t work for me….at all.

I have my biases, sure…I saw the cute little stripped cat and thought edgy, punk, rocker-chick, y'know, that kind of thing. It didn’t help that it was featured in abundant amounts of fan art with SHadow The Hedgehog and Ryuko Matoi. So when it instead became this big dumb bara wrestler (which apparently isn’t going to be fire/fighting…so…that’s good?) I felt so betrayed.

Sure, there are tons of biases (I like cute or beautiful things. Sue me.) but I think there’s still a sound argument to be made against this design. I feel like the 'conceit’ for this Pokemon wasn’t clear early on enough (as it was for Rowlett and Popolio at least). There aren’t enough clues going into Torracat that it’s going to “Suddenly stand up and be Zangief.)

I think my problem is more so the fact that it’s so obviously bara (which I can’t stand in the least) and that the idea of a 'fire wrestling warrior” isn’t the 'worst idea ever’…(even though we just got another masked wrestler last gen with Hawlucha…)

So I tasked myself with 'redesigning Beltigre’ in a way I’d like. I wasn’t necessarily trying to create a gender variant (though you can see it as such if you’d like). I don’t think my design is as overtly female as the officials is male. But anyway, here is what I came up with.

Not the greatest thing ever, but it isn’t the worst, considering how negatively I feel about the official Beltigre design, and how little experience I have doing any kind of anthropomorphic characters at all.
