Welcome to NPD + AvPD Culture Is !

This a “[blank] culture is” style blog for the experiences of having both NPD and AvPD.

How this works is people with (or questioning) NPD and AvPD send in asks that start with something like “NPD + AvPD culture is” and then describe an experience specific to having these two disorders.

This blog does not accept asks about just NPD or just AvPD. There are already blogs for that; this blog is specifically for sharing the experiences of having NPD and AvPD combined. Anyone is free to interact with posts and send in non culture is asks, we just ask that culture is asks are restricted to NPD + AvPD content only.

This blog is run by a system that uses both I/me and we/us to refer to themselves. This blog is explicitly system friendly + pro endo. Anti-endos may interact but syscourse and sysmedicalist/pluralphobic sentiments will not be tolerated here.

This blog is pro all good faith identities (contradicting queer identities, non-contact paraphilies, etc.) and against all bad faith ones (radqueer, transid, etc.), but does not have a DNI; anyone is allowed to send in asks and interact as long as they are not actively or passively hateful (passive hate refers to sending asks from blogs dedicated to/mostly about hating on anyone).

This blog incinerates “narc abuse” truthers/believers on sight; no disorder makes people inherently abusive or evil and thinking so is incredibly ableist.

Hate will be blocked, and reported if it violates tumblr’s TOS.

suspected npd & avpd culture is needing my friends to hype me up for shit. it's embarassing but i genuinely have such a hard time continuing / starting things (creative works, projects, shows, etc.) if others around me aren't hyping me up to try / continue it. and it's just a feedback loop! if im not getting attention or praise then it's hard to continue out of my own volition. i have so many shows i've dropped that i wanna continue but know that i just need others to strap me down and watch shit with me. and it just fucking sucks!

i feel pathetic for being a fucking artist who struggles with this too. too scared to search out new creative works for inspiration and too stuck up to indulge in it out of my own volition because no one will care? pick a damn struggle!

and in the back of your head you're so fucking scared that someone's gonna point at you and call you out for making the ask and judge you for it

But the high is so strong that it's just such a tiny concern [and if you pay attention to it the fear gets stronger so it's better to just steep and stew and swim in the pride and joy of feeling validated and affirmed and accepted]

npd+avpd(+paranoid/delusional) culture is submitting multiple asks to another "__ culture is" blog and none of them being posted after weeks despite the blog posting other people's and going "seriously? you post these people's bs but not my ask? what i said had to have been relatable as fuck" but then going "oh shit they're ignoring me specifically... how do they even know it's me? the first ask wasn't anonymous but the rest were and they weren't related to each other so how can they tell? do i need to change my typing style?" then proceeding to send them and anonymous ask every day for four days at a random time about completely different topics in different styles of typing and then going "this is embarrassing as fuck and they're gonna find out it's me" and blocking them 🥲 (tbf i was going through some other shit at the time but i'm still too scared to unblock them... like what if they actually do know it's me? 😭)

NPD + AVPD culture is making sideblogs with the intent to garner attention and get asks and make conversation so you can yap with/at people about things, but you have to make the intro post perfect (when you're notoriously bad at them) and you have a reputation to maintain, new blog! You can't just post(reblog) willy-nilly, that'll make people think poorly of you! And then you get demotivated in the process of making the intro post because now you're just generally exhausted from thinking about everything all at once that even if you got attention, even if you got positive feedback, you'd be too tired and bitter to even accept it. And you might just ignore it. Hiding out in the darkest corner again where nobody can find or judge you.

and then you remember you have responsibilities like writing a resume and repeatedly come to the realization that you are absolutely horrible at marketing anything, particularly yourself, and the self-deprecation bleeds into everything you say and write and touch. And it's just easier to just not do it anyways, who's going to know?

npd + avpd culture is having so much anxiety about trying to make new friends...

the avpd part is terrified to interact even in the smallest ways and worrying that you're not good enough to be their friend and "what if i come off as weird and they hate me and they hit me to death with hammers", because your npd part acts exactly like that when someone you perceive as lower tries to befriend you, you get genuinely repulsed and disgusted that they think they're at your same level and you two are all chummy when you're not.

but of course the avpd part doesn't want to say that out loud, because the npd part still wants to save some face, so you just quietly hope they get the hint and leave you alone... all this while desperately wanting to befriend someone else and worrying that they think exactly like you and maybe they hate your guts because you're inferior to them but won't say it to not hurt your feelings. but whatever. i don't actually care because i'm ultimately superior to most other people, they just haven't realized it. please realize it soon... and in the end we end up talking to nobody ever :/
