Of course I would be inspired by BAMF Queen Rebecca Naomi Jones in “American Idiot” to knit a scarf for my bestie.
Here’s the link to the Ravelry page if anyone is interested: http://ravel.me/NRNWCrafts/nss2
So excited to be re-knitting Celestarium again (a shawl where each silver bead/eyelet tandem represents a constellation in the Celestarium AKA this shawl is the sky!) - this is the photo set from my last one, for one of my favorite ladies in the world, which came out way better then I could have ever expected and I LOVE LOVE making this pattern.
Ladeez and Jentlemen...meet Cynthia. Cynthia likes to describe herself as Hombre Pink as Fuck, which brings all the boys to the yard. But like a true sister, her nights are spent jamming out to the Spice Girls, watching VHS Disney movies with her squad and eating banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery.
Made this piano scarf for my friend (and future Tony-winning composer) Andrea! I LOVE how this came out.
I named the scarf ‘Evangeline’ because why not!
I'll say it now - this "Celestarium" shawl is worth every stitch and minute/hour/day/month of work. Cannot wait for my BFF to open her belated-Xmas present!
$72.00 Spent On Custom-Ordered Yarn From Etsy
I am making the "Celestarium" shawl for my BFF and because I love her, I dipped into "yarn splurge" territory. $72.00. For 3 skeins of sock yarn. Which I typically only spend on my knit-top/sweater projects for me (which by the way, my yarn stash is filled with 6 or 7 projects, so I should get started on them. Eventually).
It will be worth it, I'm sure.
I can't wait to give this to Gina (she is, like, a real-life angel) before she leaves for Germany. This is her belated-Birthday present and I am gonna make her an accompanying piece as a going-away gift.
My pal Amanda convinced me to sign up for this group she belongs to and I am so glad I did - a Harry Potter potions-themed knitting group.
Heaven exists and I think this is it.
Working on my next turban (rendered in an orange wool), watching "Hackers" and enjoying the weather in Union Square. This is the life!
Hiatus Over!
I think in the last two-and-a-half years, I have never gone more then a week without knitting. Well, I've been super busy lately (I blame life) and resumed my three-months-in-the-making fingerless gloves with cut-outs last night. T'was nice...now, time to get back to knitting at least 4 times a week. My soul needs it.
Hells yeah for the under-45 knitting/crocheting crowd!!
Excerpt: Okay, so I know I kind of suck at updating this blog (and Ravelry. And Tumblr. And Twitter), but sue me...I'd rather design or knit rather than writing about knitting. This homeboy only has so many hours in his day...
Wearing my most recent creation - the turban - with the scarf I made over two years ago. This combo is a new favorite of mine.
That moment when...Stephen West's "Swants" tutorial went viral in the knitting/crafting/fashion communities. Remember when I thought he was a misunderstood genius? I guess those days are long gone now.
Chinti and Parker Meets Patternity triangle intarsia-knit cardigan ❤ liked on Polyvore (see more print tops)
This B&W Pattern is Giving.Me.Life.
Debuting the first sweater I have ever made (paired with my lacey cowl - called 'Lacey') at the Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival this past weekend.
Good times.
