The Celestarium shawl is finished!

One of those shawls where most of it zooms by and then you spends weeks on the final chart section. Binding off took 8 hours!

I love it very much, but I am listing it on my Etsy which you can find here. Also Etsy is doing that annoying thing where it reduces my search visibility for ‘poor lighting’ when it’s just a photo of a dark object!!

my latest project - the celestarium shawl!

i’ve had the yarn + beads for this since before christmas and, as a lover of the night sky, i am SO excited to finally be working on it. the cast-on made me want to bite my fingers off, and took three attempts, but i managed it. and otherwise it’s going well so far (made a lot easier by the alternative star list someone made, rather than using a chart that’s 99% knit stitches). watch this space for progress updates….

As part of my contemplation of mortality, I think I am going to knit celestarium to be buried in. Because being buried in the stars sounds pretty poetic and I always wanted to knit that one. Now I have a reason to. The yarn I dyed for it I’ll probably use for something else because I want a green burial and they recommend naturally dyed burial materials for that. So I gotta find 1200 yds of indigo or woad dyed yarn. Etsy, annoyingly, doesn’t know the difference between “hand dyed” and “naturally dyed.” Anyone have a good source for naturally dyed yarns? I need it to be blue, fingering, all natural materials (no nylon, not superwash). Animal fibers or cotton are both fine but I prefer wool. I found a couple things on etsy but I could use some help.

Really wish I could see someone knit the edging for the Celestarium shawl so I could figure out how this is supposed to work. I’m a visual learner and these instructions are kind of confusing me. :/
