I’m writing a bit of a memoir to you for no other reason than I haven’t really been out for a long time, except very rarely, meaning that I haven’t seen you as much. First of all, I’d quite like to ask you not to take it personally, because whilst I’ve been living like I have, I haven’t seen anybody by choice. You’ve got to trust me when I say that I don’t mean to stand you up or not make plans and if I want to see anyone, then it’s always you, and I’m not unfairly directing my stress at you. There’s only one reason why I haven’t been around as much and that reason is purely that everything that was happening before just kind of decided to get worse all of a sudden. I’d also like to ask another favour of you; that you ignore the inevitable rambling, because you know that I could waffle for England and don’t hesitate to list every detail of everything I’m describing, which is actually kind of what I’m doing now but I asked you to ignore it so I suppose you won’t mind? Hopefully you won’t, else you might think I’m awfully annoying. Oh, there’s one other thing I wanted to say - that if you’ve decided to suddenly fall out of love with me because I’ve become ridiculously antisocial and have barely even seen you, then I really don’t blame you. This is in no way an attempt to get rid of you or even to shake you off just slightly. I’m just as in love with you as I was yesterday and I'll be a little bit more in love with you tomorrow. But we're doomed, really, aren't we? And if you love someone, you're supposed to set them free. So, if you ever want to be, I won't be mad if you're free.
Just to clarify, I'm absolutely not breaking things off. In fact, I genuinely don't really know what I'm doing or why I'm writing this and in the long run, it's irrelevant and it probably won't make a difference to either of our lives but I don't want us to drift, y'know? I've seen too many relationships end purely because the people have drifted, and yes, we may be doomed to fail in many more ways than one, but I will absolutely not accept drifting as a valid reason for us to fail. Absolutely fucking not, okay? Because sometimes you don't appreciate how much you need somebody until they're gone and I never want to have to think about you being gone because if you go, then I'm going to go as well. You're a bad smell and I'm the person that smells; we're a package. (And okay, perhaps that wasn't the best comparison. But I'm trying to be cute and remember what you've said to me, please appreciate the attempt.) So I might as well catch you up on things, eh? What I've been doing whilst cooped up in my room, because there's actually quite a lot to tell you. I've not been working, although that may have been obvious - I'll have to go back again soon, God knows why Madam's still letting me live here. But, instead, I've been taking online classes. I'm not sure if I ever told you, but I've had many dreams throughout my life, Noah Bennett, but the biggest was to become a writer. And whilst that dream is nearly impossible, I can give myself the best chance. Maybe, just maybe, I'll publish something someday, and we can sign books together; that would be unimaginable - that's why it's got to happen.
Either way, though, I'm trying my best to get out of here. After stopping work for as long as I have, I realise how much I honestly hate my job. It could be worse, I could get abused, but prostitution and abuse just go hand in hand, don't they? I don't want that to happen to me, and I definitely don't want it to happen to you. Which brings me to my next point. I'm working on finding somewhere to live, and things, and I'm going to get all awkward and inevitably cliche and I hope you don't mind or you might think I'm crazy but hopefully you won't I'm not sure? I'm probably rambling again too but I'd really, really like it if you were to come and live with me if I were to get the flat and you can say no, obviously, that's fine. I know how attached you are to this place and for a long time, you believed that your future was here, and how close you are to Madam and Blessing too, so if you want to stay, then all I can do is respect that. But I'd really love for you to think about it, because I'd hate to finally get out and have to leave you behind (even though I'd come in and see you everyday; it'd be like I never moved out.)
So, to end this pointless text, I'm going to tell you that I'm going to make more of an effort to talk to you more regularly again, like we did before. And I'm going to stop being so sad all of the time and stop grieving over my bloody Nan and I'm going to stop sleeping all day and staying inside and not eating and not talking and instead, I'm going to take you out on dates (proper ones, as much as I adore our nights in with wine and strawberries) and walks and maybe I could even take you to meet my Mum, one day, and my sister. She'd love you, I know she would, and you'd love her too. For now, though, I'm going to talk to you more often, like I did before. And I'm so, so sorry that there was a huge break in communication, but I was honestly going through a bad time and I didn't want to annoy you or irritate you or get you involved. And in the end, it made me stronger, didn't it? I'm doing things for myself now, I'm going to sort my life out and sort myself out and be happy, because I'm in a better place. To be happy, I'm going to need you. If you'll have me, of course.
(I'm going to leave this in your room when I know you have a client. That way I don't have to face the awkwardness of telling you what it is. But I'd try, if we were to come face to face. I only try for people I love.)
Ending on a ridiculously cliché note, and I might as well tell you that I love you and you're my favourite person in the whole world too,
