riothamus:
It seems she is the last to arrive to this ‘even’t in more way than one. Her confusion made clear with each footstep as she makes to approach what could only be ascertained as her fellow party members. “Rin?” It is not a hello that falls from her lips nor an introduction, but inquiry. The girl of raven locks still fresh on her mind as if it had only been yesterday that she laid eyes on her. Her lips twitching in uncertainty on what emotion it is she should be displaying at this time. Joy to see that the girl is indeed safe after the war. Concern that she is trapped here. Anger–?
Whatever it is she knows it need hide itself away. Now was not the time nor the place. Instead would she quickly avert her gaze to the last individual. He was addressed as a teacher, and thus by status quo, held a higher ranking than herself in these lands.
“What I bring is… of little use.” For within her hands is but a simple carton of eggs, fully presented to all to see now. Twelve still remain but for what use they will carry she knows not. If anything she would rather have a sword. Whether it be wooden or not she could wield it well against potential aggressors.
Or better yet.
Here do emeralds cast their gaze back to Rin. Her nose was enough of a scout to inform her of the true prize in their midst. A freshly cooked turkey that’d suffice greatly to the hunger of her stomach. “Shall we simply venture forth?” Though she speaks on progressing through the door, it is clear where her attention lays.
“That’s true,” she nodded. “If teachers are involved as well, then it’s certainly bound to be a bit more challenging.” Though it was still a comfort to know she had a skilled member on her team–though there were supposed to be three people to a team, weren’t there?
His weapon though was…rather anticlimatic. “An inflatable pool toy?” She stared at the device and then pinched the bridge of her nose. “Well, I’m sure there’s some situation where we’ll need to use it or can find a use for it.” What that would be though, she had no idea, unless it involved swimming across a body of water at some point.
Just as she was about to sigh, a familiar voice called her name. She blinked, turning around and at the sight of the familiar face before her, Rin felt her confidence grow tremendously. “Saber!” It was good to see her again, even better to find themselves on the same team. She couldn’t help but smile. Even if she hadn’t summoned Saber to begin with, she’d still ended up forming a pact with the servant and gone on to win. She knew that Saber would be a benefit to the team, even with all these gag weapons.
Though sure enough, Saber’s weapons were…eggs? Two food type weapons and an inflatable pool toy..Surely there was some way to use them. Perhaps distracting or blinding monsters? Well, she’d plan accordingly–and carefully. This was no time to be making any mistakes.
“Yes, that seems like the best course, for now,” she responded, starting for the door Solace had pointed out. Only, just as she was about to reach the door, her instincts screamed at her to move. Eyes widening, she jumped back as quickly as she could, nearly losing her balance in the process as a statue slammed into the spot she’d just been standing in. It was a strange statue, like the man was trying to block himself from hearing something.
Then she heard the whisper, that only the pure of heart would be able to pass, that they had to confess their darkest secrets. Feeling a cold chill creep into her bones, she tried not to shudder. “How eerie..” she murmured. Though as a magus, she was taught to never reveal her secrets, but there was only one secret that came to mind. One she carried with her all these years. Grimacing slightly, she looked away from the statue.
“Would anyone else like to go first? I’m afraid I’ll need a bit of time to prepare myself for this..”
He felt a bit guilty for not being able to be of more use, especially since he was a professor. It was unbefitting of him, wasn’t it? If Ebalon was teamed with him, he would surely laugh. Meanwhile, if Harnier was here, he would be too embarrassed to speak. He nodded silently, as he didn’t find any meaning in pursuing the current topic any further. Solace averted his eyes to a flash of gold... gold? He turned himself to face the other, observing them for a few seconds. A new student he assumed -- He surely would have been introduced, and alerted beforehand about a new professor to the academy.
The two students seemed to know each other, which he supposed would be for the best. It was more comforting to have someone you were familiar with in this situation, rather than someone who was a stranger. Since the other hadn’t asked for an introduction, he supposed he wouldn’t have to. He wasn’t that great of a talker anyway, it was better to cut the conversation short, than dragging one to go on for who knows how long. He had learned both their names just now, anyhow. Alerted at the sudden movement of one of the students, there was no way that she could just grab the door so freely like that. “Wai--”
Though he had done nothing, the student had thankfully reacted quickly, moving out of the way. A statue seemed to have come from nowhere, landing right where the other had been. He was relieved that she was fine, then focusing on the statue. A sound? No, it was a whisper... Solace grimaced slightly. This was their first challenge, was it? Surely, no one was going to reveal their darkest secret so freely. Himself included. Only two things came to mind, yet he was hesitant. He wasn’t going to reveal this just yet, even though he had shared this secret with one, it was necessary that time. His downcast eyes were filled with doubt.Solace wasn’t quite ready yet.
“...... My apologies. I need to recollect myself as well.”
