Chlorophyll fun (2017)
With Summer around the corner there is a little more sunlight I gave this method of Chlorophyll prints a try. been meaning to try this for a while, just used various pattern transparencies from my cyanotype making but I did also used a transiency from a keyboard giving it a cyberpunk feel to nature.
I saw this movie last week, it was amazing to see an entirely hand painted animated movie. if no one's seen it I highly recommend seeing it! be quick since it might have a limited release (in Adelaide), if you're not sure here's a video showing the making of this film.
The Department of Marvelous Makeup is celebrating Halloween by marveling at the skills of Amazing JIRO, a Japanese SFX makeup artist based in Tokyo who created this ghoulishly awesome X-Ray look on model Katsuyuki Namba.
Jiro perfectly completed the illusion by painting the insides of Namba’s thumbs so that they perfectly blend into the scene when he holds the fake radiograph in front of his face.
Follow Amazing JIRO on Instagram and YouTube for and endless supply of astonishing makeup and body paint transformations.

with a piece of paper I cut out, put on another piece and then flipped around on photoshop I then applied a photocopy filter getting this delicate membrane like outline allowing the design to motorists outwards from the flower motif.
If you put quotes around something and then a name after it, it surprisingly doesn’t automatically make it important

So here are a few examples of what I have been making recently throughout the year (2017) I have been developing a lot of patterns adapted form various organic materials such as projections of oil or xrays I collect. I make these patterns out of them on photoshop to created a transparencies which use for cyanotypes, a bit cheaper to do than developing photo emulsions for screen printing, then I use each image I develop to wrap around a not book. made tones of them (about 40) so if anyone would like to own your very own note book made by yours truly, message me!
Been to long - An apology
Hello those on Tumblr, it is I Nicholas D. Todd of Canvas or Toddni! It’s been to long. After this two year hiatus from this realm, for those who know my from that spell when I started to use tumblr I assume you all miss me. my reason for not posting anything here is the fact that I never really thought about coming here as I am a creature of habit lurking on Facebook where you can find many of my current little works :

Another factor which has been due to the harsh reality of finding work, which always suck as drawing and pattern work is something I would prefer to be doing as a living despite the completion and a few harsh words that have lingered with me this past year since graduating. the aim I would like to achieve (to attempt) is show you all my multitasking skills in pattern making and some illustrations, hopefully have people say I can do this as living despite most people tell me how comparative and realistic . So I’m looking for love and hope any of you will give me something...and with that lets go to work. lets see how long I last.
Conclusion (stop motion)
For this project I discovered that we had a lot of ideas all over the place and what we ended with a lot of interesting scenes that were attended to be funny.
My roll through this project was more or less ideas man and producer. I brought forward some ideas for the final shoot. Roles that we all took turn at moving the puppets while filming, there was no dedicated we unintentionally ending up doing our little bit to move the actions. Lauran was in charge of taking pictures which made up our overall footage. Our first attention was to make a black and white film, we used cheap coloured lights for set lighting and on second thought when editing believed that the colour light set a better mood then it might of done in black and white.
Putting the images together was easy and quick to do. A lot of the editing was put into the soundtrack matching the images/ scenes to music cue from Knight rider & the brother’s Quay. Other edits I personally made is a title card I created using illustrator and Photoshop ending up with a skull theme title card fitting in with the theme of silent movie.
The final product made it’s way onto my Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/toddnitv .
As a group we had a lot of ideas and there was room for improvement in terms of having a bit more of a clear narrative then a series of horror tropes that we made a parody of. One positive is that our “plot” was able to have the chewing gum into the film killing the wire figure.
At long last our low budget Horror comedy 'The Ante Room' is complete and is available to view on my you tube channel: www.youtube.com/user/toddnitv
My group and I came up with a funny synopsis for for our stop motion.
Synopsis
On a dark stormy night our protagonist finds himself with a broken arm with his only transport low on fuel stranded in the middle of a gloomy wood. His only resort is to take shelter in the obvious death trap of a house.
Once he enters the house, sinister things creep from the darkness that challenges his unfazed curiosity.
What he finds inside is his worst nightmares coming to life putting him in the corner to his DOOOM! who can possibly be responsible for his fate?
