As an person who have been very serious sick and taken a lot of drugs that have harmed me, I love how Yuki Yuna portray that nothing is done without sacrifice. Even your usual piller for headache has sacrifices if you take too much. That’s what made Yuki Yuna realistic, and a lot of people mistake it for dark.

I like how Yuki Yuna builds a sense of unease through the series. Rather than use dark imagery and escalating events, they give you joyful scenes as we see our cast bond and develop. However they take advantage of the post Madoka awareness too also add tiny little hints that leave us uneasy. This is only increased by the fact that we have come to know and value the girls lives and don’t wish to see it taken away from them. Each episode leaves you thinking “I want them to be ok.”

I get angry when people say that Yuki Yuna is a copy of Madoka. The thing about Madoka is that the girls continually think about the looming threat of death, whilst the girls in Yuki Yuna go to each other to cope with their threats of despair. The girls in Yuki Yuna love each other unconditionally, and it’s mainly the reason why they keep fighting.
