Despite acting the part as someone who didn’t like too much attention on herself, Chrome felt quite empowered by the envious stares– and the few glares, directed towards the pair. Not that she herself liked it personally, but it meant that their plan was working, even if it was only the start of their whole rendezvous act.
The woman tilted her head the same way his fingers left, trailing after his heat and later, looking at his eyes with disappointment for losing his touch on her cold skin.
Of course, that was quickly replaced by an hesitant and embarrassed smile, a light flutter of her lashes as she turned to take a glance at the dance hall, as if trying to avoid his eyes in guilt for the thoughts she had. That she had ever so indecently thought of reaching out to touch him with her own hands, to trace along his face just as he did, selfishly wanting him to continue to just stand there– or take her anywhere, to continue his show of affection for her.
She was a young woman in love.
Well, that was what they had planned out. Thus, she would play the part, no matter when or where. Before their mission was complete, they were going to be within a mass of people, never let out of watchful eyes. Be them envious, angry, cautious or just admiring. Not a single pair of eyes should see them in their own nature. They just needed to make sure a certain pair of eyes were glued to her.
“Oh? A reward, is it?” She questioned with a slight teasing tone of her own, her gaze back to the beautiful man holding her. As he escorted her further into the hall, she loosened her arm from his– of course, with a bit of hesitation- and took two flutes of champagne, holding one out for him.
“Let’s see… If you can entertain me well enough in our dance, I’ll reward you with anything you want that I can give. Just name it and it will be yours.”
Though those were her spoken words, it was obvious in her tone that there was no chance that she wouldn’t enjoy a dance with him– even if he were to step on her feet, which was unlikely. If by any chance she did end up dissatisfied, her determination would melt away by a single touch or word from him.
ᴛʜᴇ only way to draw attention to oneself was
by causing as much of a commotion around
yourself as possible. By catching people’s eyes
by their display of love, word would travel fast
about them, and even MORE so when they
danced. Nothing made more of an impression
on people than sweeping through the ballroom
as graceful as possible. Luckily, it had been
part of his training years ago to learn as many
dances as possible and be proficient in them.
The last of their concerns was being skilled
enough to catch everyone’s attention—it was
finding the right opportunity to get Chrome
with their target.
( and all without other people noticing )
He would provide the distraction she needed to
get the man alone. But in the meantime, they
would do nothing to attract any negative attention.
They would be the least likely suspects in this
murder.
❝ Anything? I guess I’ll have to make
sure I show you my best, then. ❞
Lips curved with confidence, already knowing
he wouldn’t disappoint her. He couldn’t. After
all, what type of a man would he be if he let
down his lady? Someone as dear and darling
as she was deserved the best. Taking one of
the flutes she offered to him, he raised it as if
in a toast to her.
❝ My request is simple, and easy enough
for you to be able to reward me with.
What I want, is you, my darling. ❞
Would her cheeks flush at his sudden
proclamation? He was getting a bit too
into this role. But then again, he had
learned that it was a necessity in order
to make everyone believe you were
someone you weren’t. It was exhausting
once it was all over, but he had to admit
his current partner made the job a little
easier to handle. But there was also a
reason he chose her over any other
assassin.
