( heya fellas, it me. so as you all probably know, gotham has started back up. when i first came up with the idea for this blog and everything, i was downright obsessed with the show, and i was interested in experimenting with different roleplay styles, practicing writing fast, trying tumblr roleplaying out, the sorts. i believe it’s only been a few months at this point, but the honeymoon phase is already over. it’s a good thing i was able to distance myself from the show, because i was in way too deep with it, but season two has always felt uncomfortable for me from the get-go, and now with it back from hiatus, i hate it. i feel like the quality of the show has just dipped down in favor of... uh... easy drama? i know that people were complaining about season one being too slow, probably outside of the roleplay community, but now they’ve swung too hard in the other direction and i think the realism of the characters is suffering because of that.

most of all though, i hate arkham. i’m not usually someone to be ultra touchy about these topics, but i hate the way the mentally ill are being portrayed in such animosity. yeah, i get that fucked up things are happening to them, but i just can’t help but cringe every time the term “psycho” is thrown around and that the only way that mental ailments seems to be brought up is on some sort of extreme level. i don’t really know how to explain it. y’all do you @ gotham writers, but it’s not my thing. i’ll still watch the show, but i really miss the crime families, and that was the kind of vision i built this character around. it’s just killing my muse, and unless there’s some major tweaks to season three that gives me some of that realism (?) i liked in the first season, i’d rather just be roleplaying something else with some other character (writing for eli is tedious idk why i struggle with characters like him but i do and yet i keep making them).

tl;dr

i’m not feeling it anymore. i’m going to officially call this blog as being on an indefinite semi-hiatus, which just means things are going to be just as they have been, but probably won’t ever be any more active than this. i have a couple of people in mind that i will happily continue threading with, and i may branch out a little beyond that every now and again, but mostly i’m going to be unresponsive and/or needing ideas brought to me if someone wants to thread, bc i’m fresh out of ideas of my own. please know that i won’t be offended if you guys unfollow me or anything, even if i’m following you.

i do really like some aspects of tumblr roleplaying, so i might make another blog in the future, but it’s either going to be fandomless or from one of the two fandoms i’ve been able to consistently roleplay in throughout the whole of my roleplay career, i.e. pokémon or naruto wheezing noises. but yeah, gomen. hope everyone has a good day/rest of your lives ! )

So, pretty frequently writers screw up when they write about injuries. People are clonked over the head, pass out for hours, and wake up with just a headache… Eragon breaks his wrist and it’s just fine within days… Wounds heal with nary a scar, ever…

General note: Deeper=more serious. Elevate wounded limb so that gravity draws blood towards heart. Scalp wounds also bleed a lot but tend to be superficial. If it’s dirty, risk infection. If it hits the digestive system and you don’t die immediately, infection’ll probably kill you. Don’t forget the possibility of tetanus! If a wound is positioned such that movement would cause the wound to gape open (i.e. horizontally across the knee) it’s harder to keep it closed and may take longer for it to heal.

General notes: If it’s a compound fracture (bone poking through) good luck fixing it on your own. If the bone is in multiple pieces, surgery is necessary to fix it–probably can’t reduce (“set”) it from the outside. Older people heal more slowly. It’s possible for bones to “heal” crooked and cause long-term problems and joint pain. Consider damage to nearby nerves, muscle, and blood vessels.

“A favor.” The word is uttered in a hollow tone, underneath a husky, hushed breath as if she were TRYING the word out. SIZING-UP the level of truth to the frightened male’s words. “How interesting… You’re right though, it IS rather difficult to just ‘walk’ up to someone out of the blue as you say. Around here, that’s grounds for getting shot, or worse. You never know what intentions lie behind the so-called favors of strangers, Shortcakes.”

River nearly rolls her eyes out of the purest form of sarcasm… Honestly, it was like he was TRYING to dig himself into a deeper hole. A mysterious ‘favor’? Expressing that he WAS stalking her, with INTENT of looking for the ‘perfect place’ to run-up on her? EVERY word out of his mouth made him sound all the more suspicious and unsavory.

But she can see him looking at her, searching with a burgeoning desperation for the faintest hint of empathy to claw at… And River sighs. “…Fine.” If he really WAS anyone dangerous, back-up would have probably attempted her life by now. CURIOSITY has replaced suspicion just enough to reach a decision. And the assassin grins playfully, “Alright, dear… I’m interested. Now take a seat for yourself, and explain!”

River hoists Elijah up further… Pressing a quick kiss to his forehead before DROPPING him unceremoniously atop the mercifully closed but still gross lid on the opposite end of the scuzzy dumpster. Still smiling, she turns on heel, walking towards the fallen folder in the snow… She hasn’t forgotten about it.

“Now what could this be, I wonder-…?”

 At the sound of the single word, signifying her compliance, Elijah felt an almost palpable weight lift off his chest. A laugh that was simultaneously giddy and nervous bubbled up from his chest, cut short when he felt himself once again being LIFTED. He flinched at the press of her lips, his own turning to a confused frown, before being dropped abruptly. The “Ow!” that followed was automatic, a pain shooting straight up his tailbone, but was otherwise not enough to warrant any further complaints.

 In spite of her instructions, the first thing Elijah did when the woman turned her back was slide off the dumpster lid. With a grimace, he looked over his shoulder and patted down where he’d had the misfortune of having to SIT on such an unsanitary spot with such a God awful smell, even for as briefly as he had. Thankfully, the back seat of his jeans had not been MARRED by some mysterious substance, but the faint hint of grime was enough to draw a disgusted scoff under his breath.

 The familiar sound of crumpling paper drew his attention back to the matter at hand, his head snapping back up to stare at the woman retrieving the envelope. Getting as far from the dumpster as he could took precedence over all other things in that moment. As though he had completely forgotten the threats she had spoken, the sheer TERROR he had experienced just moments before, Elijah practically skipped forward to catch up to where she stood.

 "Right. Yes. That- that’s—” Brown eyes rolled up to the sky, forearm rotating in front of him, as though that gesture would open up the sky and present the answer to him. “See, there was this guy, kind of a sketchy dude—” But who wasn’t in this city? “ — like, the kind that you just say ‘yes’ to when they ask you for something. He gave me an address to give that to, but like, I didn’t sleep well last night and I skipped breakfast this morning and—”

 He halted abruptly, eyes widening as something dawned on him. “You probably shouldn’t open that.”

What made you decide to get a tumblr: I can’t remember why exactly, but I kept on searching for gifs here a few years back, primarily Marilyn Manson gifs if I remember correctly (I had a phase okay), and I just really got sick of how weird and limited tumblr was if you didn’t have an account, so I went ahead and made one. It took me like two years before I ever actually did anything on it though lol. As for this blog, I was stalking @wxddle  on my personal, then found waddlebro! @callidususurper because wow there’s actually a part of the fandom that actually knows how to write for Oswald incredible can’t find that in fanfics. I basically learned about tumblr roleplaying through them (also @walkingaloneinthelight) and had a lowkey desire to make a Gotham OC that was insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Then @callidususurper made some random OOC post about how she feels sorry for the guy that has to pick out Oswald’s ties for him and then idk my mind started doing that thing where it wouldn’t shut up, so here we are now.

Allow me to strap on my nostalgia goggles and reminisce. The day is January 1, 2015. A Murder Bird has just struck my fancy. Still new to the RP scene, I’ve been toying with making a blog for the one and only, Oswald Cobblepot. After some gentle persuasion from other Gotham RPers, I follow through, and, soon, Flightlessgothamite is born. (DUN DUN DUNNNNN).  Okay, enough fooling around.
