Mel Tillis, whose daughter Pam we celebrated not long ago, was a late bloomer hit-wise - hitting his stride in the 70s when country was on a downhill slope. Mel was a bit of a closet Outlaw, though - and he always kept it pretty honest in a honky-tonk tradition…
