how this latest glorious zutara renaissance has me feeling
It is fundamentally so hard talking with Aang stans about the flaws in Aang's character because they flat out refuse to acknowledge he is a fictional character and not a child. A fictional character, mind you, written by grown men who don't think there's a problem with how they're writing him. Their argument against being Aang critical is that he's 12, but here's the thing. He's not 12. He is fictional. Twelve is the age given to his character in the original series, but he is not a 12 year old child. He's a figment of the imagination of two grown men who never got over their crush on their baby sitters. And that is why I will never take seriously anyone who defends Aang as if he's a real child and in the same breath says that Aang criticism shows a lack of media literacy. One of the foundational requirements of media literacy is recognizing that fictional stories are not real. If we can't agree on that basic statement, we have nothing to talk about.

"katara and zuko were never even friends, they tolerated each other at best!"
meanwhile, in canon, immediately post-southern raiders ep: she's going through stuff at his family's old house and upon finding baby pictures that she fully believes are of him, she goes to show the whole group while gushing over how cute "he" is
The fact that Iroh himself is essentially a Zutara shipper says it all! 😂
For contrast, this is how Iroh views Zuko's "relationship" with Mai:
Does it ever drive you crazy…. Just how fast the night changes?
i'll always enjoy your company 😌
Kind of actually wild to me that they finally voiced the issue of Katara being forced into a maternal role because of her mother’s death in season 3 and then had her open up to only one other character about the severity of how traumatic that event had been for her and it was in the episode where she was allowed to step out of that maternal role and try to reclaim apart of her childhood, facilitated by that same character. AND THEN! That character sacrificed himself for her in an extremely similar fashion to how her mother had, the woman whose role she had to bear, symbolizing him taking that burden from her and effectively putting her back in a position of being cared for instead being the caretaker while also granting her the opportunity to realize that if she had the power to save her mother she could’ve and would’ve through saving him.
“ZKs wouldnt ship them if Zuko was bald” are we forgetting the fuckass humiliation ponytail
If you believe in health at every size but think being underweight is unhealthy, you don't actually believe in health at every size.
I couldn't help myself. 😏 I imagine adult Zuko is better at communicating...sort of.
It's a WIP that's taking me forever because I don't remember how to draw things.
