MARCH 14TH: pegulas release statement they will not pay arena employees during stoppages due to corvid-19 (only if they are cancelled)
MARCH 20: pegula sports and entertainment (pse) fires all their hospitality staff. makes it clear they are firings not furloughs and also refuse to pay the staff their accrued PTO.
APRIL 14: pse fires 21 more people, including long tenured executives who’d worked under all four sabres ownership groups
APRIL 17: previous sabres owner larry quinn breaks his long silence about the new sabres owners and speaks out against the pegulas’ actions (”this is just wrong.”).
APRIL 20: tim graham of the athletic releases a sobering article on the toxic culture of pse based on statements and opinions from past and present pse employees. includes a reaccounting of a meeting where kim pegula told pse employees they would have to “tighten their belts” in order to “maintain the family’s [the pegulas] lifestyle.”
MAY 26TH: the associated press releases article in which kim pegula releases statement that botterill will be returning next season and that the pegulas “have a little bit more information than maybe a fan does, some inner workings that we see some positives in.”
