reminder that when change.org asks you to “chip in’ after you’ve signed a petition, that money does NOT go to the petition organizer or any related fundraiser. change.org uses misleading language like this to trick you into paying them. they’re a for-profit corporation. don’t give them your money, send what you can to verified bail funds / gofundme campaigns / etc. instead
sabrepocalypse 2020: the world is burning and so are the sabres (inspired by tags from @eichelholic)

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I continue to be eternally (but hopefully not actually eternally because eeeeeffffff white supremacy has to end) disappointed by how few privileged white hockey players actually speak out about racism and do direct action to stop racism in the league and in society, thank you Petey for saying this.

lmao all the millionaire hockey players on my timeline posting black squares with a hashtag after a week of radio silence 💖🤩💫 go girl give us nothing 💕✨🌈
this ain’t it, jack. i’m disappointed but i’m not surprised.
Lmao fuck this. He reaks of privilege. People like this don’t deserve to have a platform even if it’s “just sports, just hockey”. He has younger generations that look up to him too.
And as a captain in BUFFALO of all places, and he wants to spew all this bullshit about how he loves the community here? I agree, this ain’t it.
As for the rest of them, all of their silence speaks volumes.
I bet he’s never stepped foot in the east side. If He looked around a little bit then he might understand but maybe not. This is what happeneds when you live a life of privilege.. work in a league that has little diversity.. Marry into another rich family ..he’s blind and he’s spoiled. He’ll never understand. That’s why I’ve been saying “you can play” is a joke. It’s going to take years for the league to change its mindset. Atleast be there to support the POC that play in the league.
Oh Jack honey... that’s not the way
On a real note tho- I am so incredibly frustrated by the pure LACK of speaking up NHL players are doing. There have been a handful of players- Logan Couture, Blake Wheeler, Evander Kane, Nolan Patrick, Auston Matthews to name a few. Some have simply posted something on their stories and others, like Couture and Wheeler, have actually put out a full statement. There are children that look up to these guys and they are SILENT. The only thing they care about is playing again. It’s so frustrating to watch players from a sport that I love stay silent in a time when they should be using their platform to say something. It’s even harder when the NHL itself, and all its teams are silent as well. Other leagues including the MLB, NBA, and NFL all have players that are speaking up and protesting. And nevermind what’s happening in the news, how many of them spoke up when the Akim Aliu situation came out?? I don’t even remember but I know there were players that were asked about it that gave NO comment. I am frustrated and tired of it and it really is making me think about how much I really can stand this any longer. I was hoping that more prominent players like McDavid would say something, but it’s been too long now even if they did I know it wouldn’t be because they actually cared but are afraid of backlash. I am frustrated with how Jack Eichel feels about everything going on. I am frustrated with the rest of the league itself. In relation to the silence from major players in the NHL- I really don’t even have the words to describe how frustrated I am with this league and it’s constant ability to let me down. Alright I’m done talking now, just had to get that out as it’s been something I’ve been thinking a lot about.
