I just realized today that some of you may know who my character is, but donây quite know their backstory or everything about them. This is the Undertale variant of my character, the one I end up rping the most, and simply a summary of their background and how they fit within the Undertaleverse.Â
Varas is a mindhive, which means they are many separate minds in one single body. When a Chara dies, they spend Friskâs journey being the narrator, and at the end, as shown by the game itself, they have 3 separate choices. In Genocide endings, Chara punishes Frisk, or the player, for their sins and I believe that is because they become effected by the LV that Frisk gains throughout that run and why they can kill their foster Mother and Father so easily just to punish Frisk and why they continue to do so throughout any other run after it. Neutral Chara simply follow Frisk until the end of their journey, and simply leave when it is over, giving you enough time to view the ending, but never to explore more about Friskâs journey beyond it. The biggest hint is given during the Pacifist ending, where Flowey tells you, both the player and the character, to leave Frisk alone after that ending. This shows that you were playing as Chara and now that journey has ended. So I came to think, what happened to Chara after this? I came to the conclusion, no matter the timeline, as long as Chara dies, after Friskâs journey, they end up in the Void. This is shown as they are now stuck on the loading screen, the save screen, or anything outside of the world itself as long as they donât LOAD an old save file.Â
This lead me to the belief that Chara was then thrown into the void, a ghost, but still there. And once Chara got there, they would end up being drawn together in some fashion and could restore their form, much how Asriel did, but forming several of their souls together into one being. That being became Varas, a combination of all their memories and experiences. This also gave them amazing magical power, powers that were centered in the Void. After they had formed, they were found by Gaster, one of the many in the Void that hadnât completely lost their mind. They adopted the child and taught them how to bend and manipulate the Void to their will. Their lab was the only location that Gaster had created, but with enough effort, Varas eventually made their own house. This was the start of Null, and why the Lab and Varas house are always a constant in the town. Varas eventually learned to travel between universes and sought to protect those inside the timelines from whatever threats they could. Their mission is to save any outcasts and survivors from deteriorating timelines before they become completely absorbed into the Void.
