Statue of James McKenzie and his dog. He seems to have been a pretty poor outlaw, accused of stealing sheep he went on the run, but was caught soon afterwards. He was good at breaking out of jail but bad at anything beyond that, he escaped two other times but was never out of jail for long. In the end he was pardoned and left for Australia. Thus is made a NZ folk hero. Fairlie, The Mackenzie Country, NZ.
