@nunyaaaabees
This is how I feel when analyzing It’s Always Sunny
Does anyone know why season 5 of Rupaul's Drag race became like sob story central. AND NO TEA NO SHADE to any of the queens but I just feel like every episode someone is breaking down over something they've been "hiding" or "keeping inside" 😭
love when worf says 'klingons do not do such things' and its really clear that he personally just doesnt want to.
@dilfsisko LMAO
Re-Animator in a nutshell?

You dont understand how high my dopamine rushed up.
The difference between the relationships in Nosferatu and Sinners really shows that POC and queer people write better romances. Nosferatu is great but the relationships aren’t that interesting, sinners is fantastic and has such tragically hot romances.
Count Orlok & Ellen Hutter: Typical cursed by a monster trope tbh. The story isn’t really relationship oriented which is fine, but that makes this ship less hot imo
Vs Sinners
Stack & Mary: “I love you more than anything and because of that I have to leave you since we live in a society where you could never be safe with me.” Then she turns him into a vampire. They are together forever. When she chooses to turn somebody she chooses to turn him first. They are intertwined forever, and neither of them would have it any other way even if it means they’re trapped on earth together.
Annie & Smoke: She is a source of trauma for him since their child died and it pains him to go back, but he can’t stay away because he loves her. He doesn’t believe in spirituality but still wears his mojo bag because Annie is his woman, and he believes in his woman. Even in the afterlife he stays with her and their child, the child they never got to see on earth.
Like these relationships are much better in Sinners, I’m sorry.
Comparing the romances of both these movies is kind of counterproductive imo, like you missed the point completely. Nosferatu isn't relationship oriented because it's ELLEN oriented. Her relationship with the count is to show her otherness, her "evil," her darkness. Everyone around her treats her like she's afflicted, and it's because she is. The count is her affliction, and she is also his. And even still, Ellen is MARRIED, the romance she has with her husband, I wouldn't say is hot, I think your entire metric is flawed there, but whatever. They do have a deep connection to each other. Everything he does in the movie is, for Ellen's sake, however misguided. Both the count AND Thomas declare their love to her.
When nosferatu finally visits Ellen, he says he was alone for centuries until Ellen called to him. He calls her an enchantress, who stirred him awake, that they are fated.
Then, when ellen is breaking down, she pleads with Thomas to get away from her, that she is tainted, uncouth, Thomas tells her "never" he chants that he loves her, he loves her.
To compare the two is so dumb because the two explore completely different things, The romance in both movies is beautiful and complex, and comparing the two is actually insane.
I've seen a lot of people talk about how Sinners is about how seemingly-woke White people who still only perpetuate the same systems of the racist White people they claim to be so against... but I also want to talk about how entwined the systems of racism and capitalism are in the movie! Like... Stack and Smoke are big-time gangsters who want to set up a community space for their neighbors - but due to the fact that Black people are only just barely escaping slavery (arguably... sharecropping was still slavery but I digress)... they can't turn a profit because everyone except them (the twins) is barred from participating in the economy! And so because they're trying to win the game of capitalism (Smoke's whole speech on there being no ghosts or demons, only power comes to mind), they have no choice but to join forces with Remmick (engaging with a system that marginalizes their own people for the sake of said people) - and everything they worked so hard to build is destroyed because of it, including the twins themselves.
To me, Sinners is, among other things, about how Black capitalism will not save the Black community, because in pursuing the goal of wealth and dominion over other people, Black people are doomed to become parts of the system that's oppressed us.
But ya! Loved Sinners <3 will be watching again (and again) (and again)
