Passed my NCLEX-RN!

The 48 hrs waiting for "quick results" is the most agonizing. I studied confidently, believed in myself throughout the exam, and still felt confident as the screen shut off, but then I definitely did everything I could to convince myself I failed in those next 48 hours, and then told myself of course I passed, AFTER actually receiving the result. Lol, it must be like stages of grief except stages of "studying up to the nclex"

I'm actually mad that I never had the time to remember to update this blog and take you all on the journey with me, but there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel!

I am happy to offer anyone who has yet to take it, some advice! :)

Week 4

No exams this week except a dosage calc quiz. Finally got to go to mental health clinical for the second time! I really enjoy it there. Therapeutic communication is more difficult than it seems! I was productive though. Went to the admitting unit and transitions unit and was able to gather info for my first careplan and process recording. I will admit I much prefer the children and adolescent units, but of course, we had to see all the units first, and then we can choose where we are comfortable staying. The weather has been very hot this week, 95 degrees and up, but hey can't complain. I'll take the heat over rain + tornadoes any day!

Now  I'm spending the weekend studying for 3 more upcoming exams this week. Didn't do so hot on my first med surg exam, so must do a lot better on this next one! Diabetes material comes easy to me, but this musculoskeletal stuff isn't my strong suit because you have to differentiate between different types of sprains, fractures, and bone diseases and tumors and all the nursing implications. I know I can do it though. If only I didn't keep falling asleep!

Week 3

So I skipped week two but that's okay. This past week I had 5 exams already! Med surg, psych nursing, group exam for med surg, and two dosage calculation exams for both classes! Didn't do so hot on the med surge, but as usual 100's on the math, and did well on psych nursing. Going into study mode extreme! My mind must be in summer mode but I really have to do well in med surg!! Clinicals were canceled again for psych nursing :( place was flooding again. Will have to make up this clinical next week.

2nd semester Week 1

Hi peeps!

So I’m pursuing the accelerate path for my BSN if you did not know so I will be here all summer! Took a short break and went home but back since last Saturday. Last semester went great! Two A’s and a B+! Trying to do just as well in these condensed 11 weeks. Eek!

Week one was alright, just going through syllabi and starting some introductory lecture. Unfortunately my first day of clinical this semester was cancelled because the path leading to our facility had flooded.

Anyway, already overwhelmed with all the material for med surge! I had a nice long Memorial Day Weekend, now back to the books! 2 exams and 2 math exams next week!

Decided not to use the tiny nurse kit. Instead, just presented my DIY snowglobe! Using a precious moments figurine, pickle jar, glitter, star confetti, liquid glycerin, epoxy, and water...tada! I explained how I felt I was called to be a pediatric nurse so I found it appropriate to put a figurine of a nurse holding a little girl in a snowglobe which is whimsical and appropriate for children. Got 34/35 points :) My professor is going to keep it with her and display it for a little while. I'll probably let her keep it until graduation!

Hey nursepeeps!

A couple days ago one of you asked me about the illustrations I post and where they come from. I get them off my professor's powerpoints but a quick search showed that they do indeed come from a book which you can purchase as a hard copy or ebook! Nursing Education Consultants, Inc. also has a FB page with helpful posts and a few illustrations a week as well.

Hi! Are your last couple posts from a book? My teachers use diagrams with animation similar to these a lot and they're always very helpful. Where do they come from?

Hello! Not sure where they come from, but I get mine off my powerpoints, so must be some resource all our profs know about! You see the copyright on the pictures? I would google that and see what comes up. Maybe there's a collection of them somewhere online. I know my friend just purchased an ebook that has a bunch of illustrations to help remember things, although not exactly like these. If I ever find out, I will be sure to post about it! :)
