I had a really busy week at work last week. I worked five 12s in a row - I know I'm crazy, but the money is good. I had one patient with failure to thrive/acute renal failure s/t complications from a routine surgical procedure. One patient who came back from surgery nonresponsive and required the whole medical shebang (CT scans, a rainbow of labs, narcan q10min, UA, etc). One little alcoholic lady who was in detox, screaming, pulling my hair, and generally attempting to murder me. One completely normal sweet little old lady who had a hip replacement. And two advanced dementia patients post orthopedic surgery. Simultaneously, three of my patients began screaming and bed alarms were thick in the air. I made the decision to push pain medication on my three AMS patients so I could focus on my 3 pages of orders for my nonresponsive post surgical patient. I guess I gave one of my patients too much. She was completely snowed. (0_o)
