Overheard in the hospital ER:

Nurse 1: I can't wait until the mask mandate and other precautions are dropped in the hospital next week.

Nurse 2: I know, I'm so sick of wearing a mask.

Nurse 1: And it's not like we even wear them properly anyway. I always have mine under my chin!

Nurse 1 and 2: *laughing*

Yeah, it's really funny how people will now become sicker and catch airborne illnesses on an already strained health care system. It's funny how some may die from hospital acquired illnesses because these mandates have been dropped. It's funny not to protect the vulnerable and have a complete disregard for others.

You know what? It's really funny how a mask and basic precautions are so inconvenient. Try being sick with a chronic illness and/or disability knowing that the hospital (that is supposed to help get you better) can potentially be a life-threatening setting now.

When for a brief moment of freedom you forget you're epileptic, in the hospital, and attached to one of these shits, which is attached to the wall, you try to get off the bed in the other direction to pee, you don't grab you EEG pack so it drops off the other side of the bed yanking your whole head to the floor with it.

But instead of feeling like a little tug it feels like

So the hospital said if we have a positive test and no symptoms they’d still like us to come to work.

Welcome to the shit show

Started the night out in the ER understaffed by 3 RNs. Had to close 2 sections of the ER due to understaffing. Then the patient in 7, and 3 code simultaneously while 21 codes for the 3rd time in 2 hours and EMS calls to say they’re 2 mins out with a single medic cardiac arrest with no intubation... So I run to ICU to borrow a crash cart from them and TWO of THEIR patients code. RT is nowhere to be found. I have security doing CPR in room 3 EMS is working their code in the hallway The medical student falls on the ventilator in 7 pulling the tube. Another med student drills an IO into the EMS patient’s kneecap and a rapid is called for a lady giving birth in the lobby. (We don’t have L&D or peds at our hospital) and of course the baby was presenting leg first because why would anything ever be easy. And In that moment I realized the only difference between my life and Greys Anatomy was that I’m not getting laid in the supply closet by a sexy doctor.
