jonas was the runt of the proverbial litter and somehow outgrew his siblings. the youngest and most curious, he expected to find a witch first. however he is the last to find a bonded partner and his siblings constantly hound him for this fact.

born and raised in a little village on the outskirts of a town that no longer exists, jonas has never found a reason to stay in one place for long. his parents long since wanderer and he and his eight siblings have followed suit with each of the other amado family finding and settling with either a human of their witch. jonas was never content for such a life and found himself in saints after a delivery job from a foul mouthed vampire. immediately he fell in love with the place and hasn't found a reason to leave - yet.

he has always had a fascination with witches due to being brought up to respect and help any of their kin. to this day, if a witch is in need jonas will always make the time to help. while taught to be wary of other supernatural creatures, jonas' occupation has brought him into close contact with many of them. vampires being his least favorite due to their arrogance and general superiority complexes that seem to run rampant. his best friend growing up was a werewolf and though the two parted ways it has endeared him to their kind. this is in part why his shifted form is similar to that of a large wolf.

jonas does not automatically like people. granted he has a soft spot for humans and witches, naturally he is wary of strangers. it takes a lot for him to warm up and even tolerate much less help someone and he has been known to actively avoid getting involved if he is in the middle of a job.

delivery work occupies most of his free time and jonas likes to use this as an excuse to see more of the city. however as time goes on, even he won't admit that he craves a little social interaction. more often than not, jonas can be found haunting the glass slipper looking for a little company.

“oh no, you’re not in my way!” sab expressed happily. “maybe i’m in your way. i mean, aren’t you in line? i can wait!” she stepped aside herself, leaving a gap between her and the other man since they had both made room for each other. “it’s really no problem. i’m not impatient or anything. but… out of curiosity, what did you get?” she asked, noticing the coffee in front of him. sab always wondered what others got for coffee, just because usually if it was something funky, she’d end up ordering herself the same thing to give it a try.

“Nah nah, don’t you worry darlin’ I’m just trying to get water from stone.” But Jonas didn’t mind in the least standing there waiting for the rest of his order if it meant a little company. His entrepreneurial woes weren’t enough to dampen his good mood if it meant spending a little time with a pretty lady. “Not impatient but plenty curious huh,” he teases and instead of answering he holds the cup out between them.

“Go on, have a taste. Maybe you’ll like it.”

As if Jonas wasn’t going to encourage someone trying out something new. It always seemed to lead somewhere unexpected and maybe she was something unexpected too. A tilt of his head and he’s smiling a little. “If you’re gonna say something like germs or something, I don’t mind seconds from a lovely lady.”

late night study sessions to foolish hours of the morning…they actually may become the death of her at one point. or at least, those were grim thoughts she always had as she managed to drag herself out of bed and to whichever café she managed to stumble onto first. thankfully the fresh air usually helped to brighten up her non-morning-person perspective…not by much but it was some sort of improvement.

thankfully too, considering the café came into view just as soon as she started to actually morph into some semblance of a human being.

she almost stumbled inside, offering a soft smile to the man at his courtesy move. “appreciate it, i don’t think i trust my non-caffeinated self to not potentially bump you. and i really don’t want to spill your drink.” kalea laughed, moving up to the counter to quickly order-thankfully the barista remembered from last time. the young woman wasn’t necessarily a creature of habit, but she did have her favorites.

turning to the male in question, she offered a warm smirk. “how’s your day going so far?”

“I can respect that.” Jonas’ eyes crinkle with his laughter as he side-steps out the way with his drink in hand. It would be a while before he got some kind of answer about the deliveries but maybe the wait wouldn’t be so bad with such pleasant company. Noting how quick the barista is to nod and wave the girl aside he can’t help but wonder- “You a regular here then?”

She meets his question with a question and Jonas finds himself laughing again as he gives her an amused grin. “Well considering it’s just begun and there’s a pretty lady keeping me company? I’d have to say it isn’t going bad at all.”

And why wouldn’t he welcome a pretty face along to help pass the time. His day was just starting and well, he had a feeling that it would take a while to convince the owner to sign any kind of deal regarding delivery. “So, top three drinks, I gotta ask-” Jonas grins and takes a sip. “Yknow, for future reference in case I think of asking you to breakfast.”

Location: Conservatory of Flowers When: Evening, (open to anyone)

The conservatory was usually filled with people during the day and she could certainly understand why, seeing the plant life and flowers through the windows of bright sunlight was always a breathtaking sight to be sure but Rikki was looking forward to seeing some sights that could only be seen during the night. On and off she had been going to check on the blooms, she was used to having the time on her own so when another set of footsteps caught her attention the familiar couldn’t help but put up her guard. “Late night stroll is it?” Taking a step back she couldn’t help but think about the missing around the city.

Something called to him. Maybe it was a tired ache or the familiar comfort of the wildness amidst the concrete jungle. It would’ve been easier to take to the wood that circled the town in a suffocated embrace of old cedar and groaning pines. But it wasn’t quite the same as the humid biome of the Conservatory. Here you could be in the rainforest, the desert, the mountains, the swamp- all by merely walking. It was a relief after a long day behind the steering wheel hefting around boxes or putting in a new shelf.

He almost runs into her for his lack of attention.

The words make him jump and for a moment he’s left blinking owlishly. “I, uh-” He’d been thinking about the witch, the one that kept hiring him for jobs every week. The one that kept smiling at him. Jonas didn’t like admitting he was feeling off center. “Yeah,” he settles for quietly, gaze lingering on flowering vines nearby. “Yeah I just needed to get out of my head for a bit.”

Open Starter Where: Outside the glass slipper, day time.

Lilianna emerged from the nightclub in workout attire and her usual smile, sweating. Daytime practices have to be her favorite part of the day, she loved having the club to herself; aside from the bartenders or cleaning staff setting up for the night ahead.

Settling though, Lili was waiting for the bus now. "Maybe I need to teach a class or something, here. During the day. Bring business in? I wonder if the boss would be interested."

Sometimes, his loyal little GTO had a mind of it’s own. Today happened to be one of those days and the mechanic could only work on her so quickly. Made it hard to get around and harder to do his job. Odd jobs and deliveries only worked when you could get from point A to B. So it just meant a lazy day of getting a coffee and walking through the nicer parts of town.

Course it also meant taking the bus.

Glancing up from his ratty copy of The Prey, he’s giving the lady next to him an amused once over. Anyone with eyes could see she was a dancer though it was probably a good thing she wasn’t wearing what he’d often seen the girls dance around in at the Slipper. “Classes huh?” Raising a brow there’s a slight grin. “Sound like you’re thinking of running your own side hustle, I can appreciate that.”

location: the love you a latte cafe who: anyone !

it's overcast today which usually meant an influx of orders. not that jonas was hurting for cash or work but it was a good gig running orders from the local cafe to people's places when the weather got too bad. standing round at the front of the cafe, there's a smile given by one of the baristas when they place a cup of coffee in front of him. something to help with the wait, they'd said.

"thanks again for this, our usual guy is out with a cold or something."

jonas offers that practiced service smile. "no problem at all. I've been meaning to get a hold of your boss and see about making this a full-time arrangement. could be beneficial if she's thinking about expanding to delivery and all on more than the stormy days."

the barista chuckles, offers up a good luck with that he's heard more times than he can count and leaves him to wait. it's only when the door chimes does he look away and over his shoulder with a slight step to the side.

"ah - here let me get our of your way."

Gabriel had a lot on his mind as he strolled the streets of his home city. There was business on the council that he had to deal with and the impending worry that something was going to go wrong with the fungi he was growing for a very precarious potion. He looked up at the grey skies and rushed forward into the Black Cat for his morning dose of coffee.

The man moves swiftly out of Gabriel’s way, and Gabe offers a sincere smile. “You weren’t in my way at all, especially if you are being served?” He asked, but then he saw the coffee in the man’s hand and bounced his brows before approaching the barista and ordering his own drink. While waiting for it to be made, Gabe returned his attention to the other. “Were you suggesting that they do delivery services? Because I completely agree with you on that front.”

it starts like it began, with a little itch at the back of his neck.

like a tickle or a whisper, almost as if the man tapped him long before he entered the room. gabriel walks in and jonas knows before he hears the door. but still he feels the need to apologize and laugh. gravity feels off balanced when he looks at the other man, lips tugged half in a smile before he can help himself. “I wasn’t,” he tries to clarify, “I mean, I am but - ”

a weak wave of his hand and he laughs a little under his breath. ducking his head a little, jonas takes to examining the coffee in his hands instead. gabriel tells the barista the order and he swears he isn’t overhearing.

so maybe he knows gabriel likes it sweet (according to him), just a little extra foam and some days when he watches him there’s that rebellious little gleam in his eyes when he asks for caramel. and maybe he knows gabriel smiles after that first sip like it was his old love. jonas tells himself it’s not because he knows the witch comes here often and frequent as to why he tries so hard to push for a delivery service.

gabriel catches him off guard. gods help him, he doesn’t hate it.

“yeah, days like this? cold and rainy, figured they’d make a killing off the orders they could get. no one likes to leave home on days like this.” and oh the witch makes it easy to smile as he leans against the counter. and maybe just maybe he can’t help but sip his black coffee with a few teasing words spared between them.

“what, no oat milk today?”
