WHO SAID BLACK GIRLS CAN'T BE KAWAII???

Sometimes you have to just treat yourself like an overtired toddler.
“Okay, as soon as you finish this assignment you can take a little nap.”
“You just cleaned your room, good job!”
“Hmm..maybe eating a snack will stop you from wanting to cry.”
Sometimes? I think you mean all of the time.
Being an adult is just parenting yourself.
It’s true and highly effective self care. Speak to and treat yourself with the same love and care you would want your child self to be given.
That means: no insults or name calling. No judgement. Patience. Gentle firmness. Health, safety and happiness first. Encouragement. Rewards and validation for a job well done. Self soothing. And above all else, love.
This is so important

Fuck This Fish In Particular
Me: -explaining what a stonefish is-
Husband: Oh fuck that! That’s why you never go to the beach!
Me: Well, I mean-…
Husband: No! No! My ancestors didn’t crawl out of the ocean just so I could crawl back into the water and get stabbed by a fish! I’m gonna sit my happy ass right here on the land and watch all the dumb tourists die of stonefish poisoning.
Me: …… -succumbs to fit of giggles-
Husband: Oh you got stung by a jellyfish! Quick, pee on it! That’s your idea of a good time!? Pain and urine!?
Me: -pauses for breath long enough to say- …..Some people pay good money for that.
Do you live in Australia? This feels like a homely post about our ocean life.
Yesterday I learned that while the stone fish sting feels like acid and fire and nasty, only it’s dorsal spines have the stingers in them and the rest of the fish is safe to touch. Not that you should touch it though.
Nope, east coast of the U.S. But I have been equal parts in love with and terrified by the ocean and its inhabitants since I was a child.
I’m strangely pleased by the comparison though. 😁
This is some truth laid down right here boy.
Millennials have essentially been forced into a perpetual teenagerhood by socioeconomic circumstance, we desperately want to grow up, and we’re worried that we’re running out of time to do so
So I made my cat a witch hat to wear when she goes out side. I’m wondering if I should offer it in my store XD

when hozier’s like real people do begins and i’m suddenly both the ancient bog witch sealed beneath the earth for the protection of the village and the sweet cottage girl who unearths a pale and icy cold arm with a weakly beating pulse from the moors while picking berries and carries this body home in the moonlight… and i take her home and put a hot chicken soup over the fire and begin to clean her gently with a damp cloth… and then as i reach to brush tangled hair from her forehead long, cool fingers grip my wrist and i see her staring up at me, and she is resplendent, a dark queen with the stature of a goddess, and her eyes pierce through me and i know in an instant that she is magnificent and that she has been wronged and that she is a creature i can not understand but oh, to even try, to try to know her and love her the way i must… and i am at once the witch, staring up at the girl, feeling her wrist warm in my grip as a hearth fire, and she is soft and smiles shyly and smells of blackberries and fresh baked bread, there is something tender and kind to her that i have never known but oh, I want to, and her eyes are warm but fearless, and i find that i do not mind this courage, for the very last thing i would want her to be is afraid, and i think that her lips would taste as sweet as honey… i see her and i see a home, laughing and swaying in the kitchen to the strains of distant song, baking honey cake and eating together and feeding the birds outside the crumbs and picking berries on the moors together, making bramble wine with the berries we don’t eat on the way home… lay on the roof with a thermos of hot tea and hold hands as we see each other in the stars… befriending the children of the village and becoming known as the mostly benevolent witch couple on the edge of the forest, making good luck charms and slipping them into her pockets, brushing her hair out of her eyes a thousand times and never not smiling when i see her eyes… and i know that she is the most beautiful creature on this earth or under it
My mom makes chicken soup from scratch all the time so I thrifted this perfect 1970s mug to tuck away for her until her birthday.
[image description:
Photo of a hand holding a white soup mug that says “Chicken Soup” across the top, with a list of ingredients below. The ingredients are: 1 Small Chicken, 1 Onion, 3-4 pints Water, 1 Bay Leaf, Salt & Pepper, 1 blade Mace, and Fresh Herbs. There are illustrations of some of the ingredients around the list.
End description.]
