i think…one of my favorite headcanons about the tangled found family is that the healing incantation ends up being a comfort song for all of them. cuz rapunzel has known it since before she could speak, it basically comes as naturally to her as breathing
when cass and eugene brush through her hair, she hums it to herself almost on instinct. when she tends to kiera and catalina’s wounds after their typical incessant roughhousing, shes singing it softly to them, despite it’s lack of healing properties. when varian wakes up from a nightmare and clings to her, she’s gently combing her fingers through his hair and singing to him.
when cass’ arm flares up and she’s massaging it, when she’s relaxing after a stressful day with eugene and lance, even when she’s doodling in her notebook with only pascal by her side, she’s singing.
and even when varian and cass are traveling, both on separate journeys, miles from corona- they still catch themselves humming the tune, being reminded of her soothing voice.
it becomes a lullaby for all their children, their grandchildren, and so forth. and rapunzel loves it. not because of the sundrop, or the magic it once possessed, but because it makes her loved ones happy.
and thats. really special to me i think, because in a way she’s kind of reclaiming that power. i mean gothel was the one who taught her the incantation, she probably had it memorized before she could even sing all the words on her own and that was because gothel was using it for her own gain. rapunzel only had about two occasions where she used the power by her own volition, MAYBE three if you count cass, but everything else was because gothel made her, and gothel used her to keep herself alive
rapunzel spent so long just being gothel’s “flower”, but shes learned she’s more than that. and even if the song doesn’t possess any healing magic now, rapunzel tends to believe that even the effect it has on them as a family is magic in and of itself.
rapunzel was specifically taught this song so it could be used against her. now she’s using it for herself- still to help others, but now it’s her choice to do so, and it’s her family. one who truly loves and cares for her, and deserves that comfort in return.
idk, i just feel like, especially for a song called the healing incantation, its nice to have it come full circle in that sense. because she finally feels safe, she feels at home, and she’s not gothel’s flower anymore- she’s rapunzel.
and they wouldn’t have it any other way. 💕
