Take a road trip. Sounds pretty wicked if you ask me.
Fun fact: Iâve always wanted to road trip to the west coast.

True, true. Iâve always been more of a fan of exploring the city â the place is so vast, Iâm always finding someplace new. Donât take much; jacket, wallet, keys, phone. Locate a cafe or shop you wanna check out and just let your feet wander a bit, enjoy the sights. Especially love it when I get the chance to walk through Central Park. Pro tip â if you ever feel insecure on the streets, keep a hand in your jacket pocket, and use your key ring to put a key between each finger. If anyone messes with you, you can mess up their face pretty bad. Plus youâll feel about as badass as Wolverine.
You speak like youâve got experience? Iâm from a ridiculously small town, so coming here was definitely a culture shock. As for the exploring part, Iâm down for that. As for doing it alone, that part Iâm not too sure of. Iâm a total bad bitch in all aspects, but Iâm pretty sure even the most Wolverine action on my part wouldnât be enough to hurt someone if they wanted to snatch me up. I like an adventure though, so kudos to having bright ideas.

Well I knew my finals kicked my ass like no other. What helped for me was going out places to study. Having a different place to relax and study was a big thing for me. Being home always initiated this relax type of thinking while a small cafe or library I was able to get into work mode. Donât just go all in at once either, that makes your brain overload.
My first mistake was thinking I could study at home, for sure. And truth be told, Iâm an awful procrastinator who thinks itâs possible to cram last second, and itâs not. I might have to try the whole coffee shop vibe again. The last time I studied in a coffee shop, I spent more time getting numbers than learning terms.
camden-michaels:
Where do you go to school? Hope you got to get away for a bit before brutal finals.Â
NYADA. I went to OSU for my bachelors, and now Iâm attempting to gain my masters, which is way easier said than done.

I remember Finals week it was a night mare agreed, but youâll get through it. How about Malibu? Because that place seems like a fun place to rewind after stressful times.Â
As if my parents would fund a spontaneous trip to Malibu without wanting to tag along. Apparently the Fabrayâs are planning something for me, which, in case you arenât aware, trumps any luxury getaway.

Any plans on where you wanna go?

Well, canât say Iâm personally going but thereâs the Jingle Ball at the Madison Square Garden if youâre into that. Or just skating a few rounds on the rink in general?
Doesnât really sound like something you go for solo, and Iâm not trying to look like a total loner this Christmas.
lori-k-cox:
HmmâŠwicked idea. Iâd try bungee jumping for sure. I had that urge, when I had exams.
I might be too tempted to forget the bungee part -- kidding. If I can survive one more week, then Iâll be willing to try just about anything.
Finals week just might be the death of me. For sure might need a get away after next week, so if anyone has some wicked ideas, hit me up.

âIâll just have to take whatever you say in those times with a grain of salt.â She picked up her glass of water, took a sip and then said, âI can handle it. Iâve been yelled at by some scary people.â She grinned across the table as if somewhat saying, âlay it on me, i can take itâ. It was becoming one of her most favorite things to have Kittyâs eyes meet her own. It made her feel important. Her lips pulled between her teeth.Â
She nodded to what Kitty was saying, knowing that she was right. But maybe the smaller woman didnât realize that SHE was bringing out the change in her. âI like that you try. Means more than you know. And you can say grace out loud, if you want. I donât mind.â Her voice was quiet as she lowered her head respectfully with the blonde.Â
After, she waited to see how Kitty would go about plating her own food before she got her own. Everything looked so delicious, the steam lifting up from most of it and carrying all those amazing smells.Â
âYâknow, thereâs only really ever been one person I wasnât totally bitchy with upon first meeting, and that was Quinn. Iâd heard so much about her in high school, that I just kind of wanted to be her.â It was somewhat embarrassing to think about now, especially since sheâd grown from that immature blonde. She was her own person; someone much kinder, and much more understanding than sheâd ever been in high school. âIâm going to try and keep the level of bitch-mode down, just for the sake of the friendship.â
âSure thing,â she nodded, eyes still closed and head still faced downwards. She quietly rattled off a prayer she was sure sheâd said a thousand times, icy hues only flickering open when sheâd ended with a solid Amen. âJust dig it. I wasnât really sure what you liked, so I just went with all the basic sides; green beans, corn, mac-n-cheese, and potatoes. Hope youâre game for southern-style,â she grinned, reaching for the corn first thing.
âAnd if you want wine, just let me know. I have a bottle chilling in the kitchen, and I just assumed itâd be an after dinner thing.â She for one, never liked a sweet wine with her meal. Sheâd grown accustomed to the sweet taste, itâs fruity contents still much more appealing to her than the bitter end of the spectrum.

And there goes the billion dollar question. It was tough. You know what youâll be seeing and you think youâre ready for it but youâre not. Donovan, was first in line. Anyone got hurt and sheâd go and help them. I always had her back and I was always ready for her when she needed to make it back to base. Itâs hard trying to get the injured into the helicopter while there are people trying to kill you. There were many time where I thought she wouldnât make it. Where I had to go right into battle just to get her ass out of there but she would have done the same for me.
Sheâs a real hero, yeah? Pretty sure sheâs too humble to admit it, but itâs not like Iâve asked her. Sheâs pretty cool, and I think youâre definitely lucky to have served with her. Iâve never experienced anything like that, but I can only imagine what itâs like. And thanks for being cool about the million dollar question. Itâs really none of my business, but I was just curious.

Best feeling in the world is returning home and waking up in the arms of the person you love. Now I get to see my bestie and my new Niece I am too excited for words! I hope everyone else has a happy Sunday!
Gag me. No offense, but youâre starting to sound like every other Nicholas Sparks couple out there in the world. Glad youâre getting to be home, though, and I hope itâs a good stay nonetheless.

âIâm thanking you because you are now the second person to ever make a meal just for me.â She grinned, her eyes twinkling a bit, âThe first being my mom.â She chuckled after saying it.. knowing she always talked about the woman too much. Bradley and her mom were really the only people she was super close to. And now she was starting to include Kitty in that list. âIâm glad youâre not a bitch to me. I really enjoy being around you.âÂ
âItâs hard, you know?â she stared down at her plate after a moment, âI feel like I want to go do things and I get myself so ready to do them. But my hand touches the door handle, or I go to tie my shoes.. And I start to lose my nerve.â Her eyes glazed over as she stared at her plate, but then she blinked and looked nervously up at Kitty. âBut the fact that it was you, thatâs why I didnât. No one gets better by running away. Right?âÂ
âIâm sure this wonât even compare to whatever your mom cooks up, but Iâm hoping itâll at least be edible,â she grinned, knowing damn good and well it was going to be an awesome meal. She wasnât arrogant over her cooking skills though, not yet at least. âIâm sure youâll witness the burst of bitchiness at some point. Not on purpose -- itâs just kind of something that happens. I donât have a filter, which means I usually say a lot of stuff I donât actually mean when Iâm pissed off or upset. Iâll be the first to admit that Iâm not the greatest person in the world, despite what my Biblical background would tell you.â Sure, she believed fully in her Lord and Savior, but not even his mystical powers had been enough to tame her anger at times.
âI wish I could say I understood, but I donât,â she admitted, eyes settling on Maceyâs. âDoesnât mean I wonât try, though. The fact that youâre here means a lot, and it means that whether you wanna admit it or not, youâre making progress,â she shrugged, head dunking and eyes falling closed after the short response. âYou donât have to pray, but itâs still something I do.â Sheâd do it in silence if it meant not offending the other woman, but she doubted thatâd ever happen.

The soldier laughed at Kittyâs judgement of her own place. Okay, so maybe we can paint or draw some new stuff and hang them in our places.â The suggestion came almost too easily. She had always loved painting when she was younger, so why wouldnât she try it now. She hadnât even thought about doing it till now. She lowered her head, still unable to accept that she was owed anything, finding it easier just to not say anything than to try and argue with the blonde. âI am starving so thatâs perfect. Thank you.. again.â She followed Kitty over, her body feeling the difference in how it has to carry itself on heels. She hoped she didnât look really awkward.. that would completely ruin her confidence. She had even done her makeup, wanting to pull out all the stops for her friend since she was doing something in her honor.Â
âIâm gonna be honest, Iâve been nervous all day.â She pulled her chair out and sat, pulling her napkin down into her lap. âI get.. I donât know.. just nervous in new places.â She looked around again though and then said, âBut I actually feel fine now.â Her eyes landed on Kitty, taking a second to take in the younger woman in her own environment. âAnd Iâm glad I didnât chicken outâŠâ Â
âI wouldnât thank me until youâve tried it,â she grinned, motioning to the side of table opposite of her. âAll jokes aside, I hope you like it.â Sheâd worked hard on preparing things, hoping that sheâd finish before Macey arrived in order to prove that she was more than capable of doing something on her own. âMe too. I think itâs mostly because I donât really ever invite people over. I know it hasnât really shown much, but I donât really have a high tolerance for most people. Iâm sort a bitch,â she shrugged, taking a seat. âAnd you can deny the claims all you want, but Iâll be the first to admit, itâs sort of true. I had to make a name for myself somehow.â Her bitchiness had been used as a defense mechanism; a way of ensuring that no one else would ever have any power over her.
âIâm glad you didnât chicken out too. I mean, I probably would have showed up at your door a little pissed off,â she grinned, kidding, but not. âIf you ever feel like Iâm being pushy or overbearing, just stop me, yeah? Iâm not really good at having actual friendships or whatever, so I donât really understand boundaries.â

Even with the distraction of all that was Kitty.. Macey still analyzed the room. Everything felt in slow motion except herâ he eyeâs notating every door, window or crawl space possible, the normal response to her need for situational awareness. But something in her told her that she could trust her. She somehow knew that Kitty wouldnât set her up to be worried or scared in any situation. And it actually made her take less time familiarizing herself with the area. âYouâre place feels way more home-y than mine.â Her fingers rubbing against one another in nervousness. âI really think I need to put some art up.â She watched Kitty walk away, her eyeâs following the younger womanâs muscles at they rippled under her skin. Her head tilted without her realizing but she snapped out of it in time before she got caught. She set her helmet down and then pulled her jacket off, folding it neatly and then laying it where she told her to.. then placing the helmet on top. She suddenly felt naked. No backpackâ despite how many time she pulled it over by the door to take with her. No coatâ a new item of clothing along with her outfit. She couldnât have shown up wearing a t-shirt and jeans and the only other nice thing she owned was her Class A uniform⊠and something told her this wasnât the setting for that.Â
âI canât help it, Iâm always on time.â She lowered her head as her hand raised to her hair and pushed through. âThis is your dinner! You make the rules. But I wish I could have a least helped with something. This all looks amazing.â She nodded with all the directions given. If they did drink, she wouldnât drive home and it was definitely too far to walk. âWine is a must, but first.â She looked back at Kitty and said, âYou look amazing.â Her tone soft and her mouth pulled sideways for a moment as she tried not to shy under those crazy blues. âThank you for doing this for me.â She let her hands clasp together in front of her, not knowing what else to do with them. âI brought dessert, but you canât open it until itâs time to eat it.â She scrunched her nose up as she smiled at her friend.Â
She wondered what it was like for Macey to come into a completely new atmosphere; to know the things that circled around her beautiful mind. Was she nervous to be a place that wasnât her own apartment, or was it something that didnât even bother her to begin with? âIâm sure itâs just the same artwork from Hobby Lobby that my mom loaded up on. Sheâs the one who hung up most of the stuff here. She wanted my first apartment to be something special and it is, but I want to add my own touch to it.â If she removed a single Bible verse from the wall, she was sure her mother would begin to question whether or not New York was the place for her, but she almost didnât care. Sheâd totaled her car in a storm and somehow managed to wiggle her way out of the truth; she could handle a few less faith-inspired pictures hanging around. âI just wanted to have everything ready by the time you got here. Youâve helped me out a lot, and I just wanted to repay you for everything, even if youâre too stubborn to admit that I definitely owe you a decent meal.â
Kittyâs cheeks turned a light shade of red as she turned away, pretending to straighten the dinner plates on the table. âYou look great too,â she complimented, only turning back when she was sure her eyes werenât incredibly wide. âYes, maâam. Whatever surprise you brought can wait until the end.â Arms crossed over her chest as she walked to the center of the room, her eyes locked on Maceyâs. âIf youâre ready to chow down on an awesome home cooked meal, then consider me ready too.â

Macey absolutely wanted to reply. She did. But the fact that she had been looking down when the door opened, had her eyes in prime position to travel from the neatly painted toes, up. And up they went, long toned legs, the little divot where her thigh muscle startedâ it made her throat dry. Even the apron was doing things to her. Her eyeâs met Kittyâs finally and all she could do was shake her head no that she hadnât had any difficulty doing anything other than communicating at that moment. She held dish with her helmet on top in one arm and the other had just hung there beside her. While her mouth hung open.
Something inside her made her step forward to hug Kitty, her arm going low around the blondeâs waist to pull her gently against her. âH-hi.â Was all she could mutter before she shyly stepped back again. She got her bearings and said, âYou can smell this place all the way down the hall. Whatever youâve made, itâs been teasing me since I hit the floor.â She grinned widely at Kitty, her beautiful eyes being the center of her attention now.Â
She didnât make it a habit to invite people over to the apartment her parents so graciously paid for and decorated. It was fully of religious quotes painted on cute wooden frames, and while she appreciated the thought, she also wanted a change. Still, she leaned into Maceyâs arms, wondering if the woman would comment on the Holy vibe it had to offer, but also not caring about it in general. She was Katherine Elizabeth Wilde, and she was only what she made herself to be. âHereâs to hoping you arenât incredibly disappointed. Iâm not the best cook in the world, but Iâm definitely good enough for someone to eventually want to wife me up,â she joked, taking the dish from Maceyâs arm and ushering it to the already made table. âI figured youâd be here around six, so I went ahead and set the table. I hope thatâs okay.â
Turning back, blonde waves fell over her bare shoulders, her bottom lip snaking between her teeth in a signature nervous tick of a way. âAnd you can just throw your jacket on the back of the couch if you want. Seriously, make yourself as at home as Iâve managed to do at your place. The bathroom is on your left. If you want wine, I have some in the fridge. And I have a guest bedroom if youâre thinking of really getting into the night,â she offered, hoping the woman would take her up on the offer of doing just that.
