What is the sentence-ender か？

When you add か to the end of a sentence, it becomes a question.

かぼちゃです = it is a pumpkin

かぼちゃですか = is it a pumpkin ?

for now let's say です means it is. Desu is going to come at the end of sentences or phrases, and is of “neutral” formality, meaning it can be used in all kinds of situations and is very versatile.

English: It is a pen. Yoda: Pen, it is. Japanese: Pen desu.
