If you're having trouble with understanding how this mechanic works, I hope this diagram helps.

If you don't wanna follow the bounces to solve the mechanic:

1) Don't be in the row of the panel the initial laser strikes (I think it's always the first row? But I'm not 100% sure)

2) Don't be in the column of the other panel in the same row as the first panel.
