Next stop on our Bumbleberry Hollows World Food Tour is Brazil 🇧🇷💕 let’s start with Bonnie and her wonderful cup of coffee! Brazil is the leading producers in coffee making about 1/3 of the entire world supply! In 2019 Brazil produced 2,595,000 metric ton (5,714,381,000 pounds) in 2019! With that much coffee being made it makes sense why coffee is such a common drink to anyone living there. For our second dessert let’s look at Bolo de Rolo! Bolo de Rolo is a Brazilian dessert from Pernambuco state! The desserts origins start in Portugal with the dessert colchão de noiva. The dessert then evolved once reaching Brazil to include more of the native ingredients and took on a bit of a new appearance. The filling of the pastry is made with melted guava which is a very common fruit especially in NE Brazil! Lastly Brigadeiro! This traditional confectionary from Rio de Janeiro is made from condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter, and chocolate sprinkles coating the outside! The name Brigadeiro surprisingly came because of a political election shortly after WWII. Brigadier Eduardo Gomes presidential campaign started in 1946. The dessert doce de brigadeiro later shortened to brigadeiro was sold to help fund and promote his campaign. Although very popular he eventually lost to General Eurico Gaspar Dutra.
