Lynch Brother Punch Inspired by maggie-stiefvater​‘s The Raven Cycle series

A strong, tangy, and slightly bitter Virginia-summer cooler that you just can't help loving.

Mint

Lemon

Thyme simple syrup

Bourbon

Club soda

Make simple syrup ahead of time by mixing equal parts sugar and water. Let it boil, like your temper, on the stove until it is clear. Add a sprig of thyme to the solution.  Let it cool to the temperature of a fresh spring in Cabeswater.

Use a wooden spoon to smash a fistful of mint leaves & two lemon wedges in the bottom of a glass. Make sure to smash thoroughly, like it's your older brother's smug face.

Add 1.5 oz of your late father’s favorite bourbon, and 0.5 oz of the thyme simple syrup.

Pour over ice, top with club soda, and garnish with mint leaves. Your best friend always has some handy.

MOCKTAIL: The Matthew Sweet, chilled, more dream-like and less aggressive than its brother drink.

Gently muddle a handful of mint leaves with 0.5 oz pre-made thyme simple syrup in the bottom of a glass.

Stir in 1.5 oz of fresh-squeezed lemon juice and ¾ cup of ice-cold water.

Top with club soda.
