i just think more fictional women especially those who have been forced into marriage and forced to bear multiple children that they never wanted as teenagers should openly revel in abortion like this is exactly what i've been talking about genuinely it's not enough for fictional women to be ostensibly placidly pro-choice but ultimately still have their own baby in the end despite the absolute most horrific external circumstances imaginable because it's different when you're a Good Guy in the story or something and everyone knows the good guy feels tormented about it but ultimately Chooses to keep the baby or whatever idk like we gotta write women who unapologetically love abortion and HAVE abortions and feel freed and saved by those abortions because it is genuinely a joyous and miraculous thing. abortion is not a horrific last resort worst case scenario and people need to stop treating it as such because by FAR the worst case scenario is being unable to get an abortion and forced to carry a pregnancy to term that you either don't want or like physically materially cannot survive. anyways.

Ive gotta say it is such a man thing to do for Liam and Matt to be like "yeah Caleb forcing Veth to go into early labor is like a fun evil thing for him to do" and not "this is extremely fucked up and super loaded in our patriarchal society". you and me are sharing brainwaves across who knows how many miles. i'm exactly where you are on this. i don't want to be a killjoy about it, but i am having killjoy feelings about it. like you said, it's such a male perspective on it, and yes, flippant is the word i would also use. it feels too flippantly planned for how, like. genuinely horrific it would be to do to a woman. and i know veth is played by a man, but it's still something that happened to a woman and it feels like a woman should have been consulted before they decided this was a great idea to "spice up" combat

it also feels worse, honestly, considering just how early she was in her pregnancy. i don't know, if she'd been like. 30 weeks into it, it might have hit better because she was already far along and i might have made "at least she didn't have to do the last month of pregnancy" jokes about it, but she was only 8 weeks in. she was barely even pregnant. and considering veth's personal baggage with motherhood on top of everything, it feels. like the optics of the situation were maybe not considered at all

anyway, widobraves continue to be the realest motherfuckers in the fandom. in all my decades of fandom, I've never been part of a fan community so willing to throw their male faves under the bus for their female faves as widobraves are. being our special boy only gives a character privileges over other men and even then, at a certain point, you're pushing it.
