I've been playing this game on and off for two years and I just found out you can brake while driving.
you don't understand I thought it was so weird that the cars weren't programmed with brakes, just gas and reverse. half the time if I'm going too fast, I don't even bother with trying to use reverse to slow down. I just crash my car into wherever I'm going. I'm laughing so hard I'm crying. there have been brakes the whole time. it's not even hard to figure out. it's literally the A button. I think I might be stupid.

renting the Japantown apartment before doing the Wakako gig in the same building is always so funny because when Johnny starts pitching a fit about how the only places you take him are "roach-infested flophouse[s]," it's just like c'mon, man, I live here.
world's saddest brain tumor having a sulk because it's take your parasite to work day and my job is boring and gross.

I think one of the worst things a story can be is unproblematic.
Nothing makes a story more unreadable than being able to see the author squirm apologetically for the story they actually want to write—wringing their hands and imploring the reader please, please don’t be mad, I know it’s ideologically questionable but I need you to not be mad at me!
For example: a Good King™️. It’s one thing for a story to present a fictional monarchy and ask me to root for it. It’s another thing for a story to say, hey, I know what you’re thinking—but don’t worry! I can justify this premise! I have introduced a lot of convoluted self-aware political justifications for why my king is good and likable without actually asking any risky ideological questions! These characters aren’t actually problematic! Don’t be mad at me!
Commit to the bit. Apologetic, defensive writing designed to bypass obvious criticisms often winds up offending me far more than stories that are just kind of surface-level problematic. If I’m gonna be a hater you cannot stop me; the more you insist that a character is actually a good oil tycoon because of all these exceptional situations and beyond my reproach, the more I resent you and hate your stupid book.

my biggest petty complaint about Cyberpunk 2077 is that they don't let you listen to the radio outside of your car/specific areas where there are fixed radios. John Falloutgames is canonically sneaking around nuclear wastelands blasting big band music at full volume from the world's bulkiest Apple watch, but V can't find a pair of working headphones, a thing I have in real life, in all of Night City?
I can swap out my arms for rocket launchers in this game. a dead terrorist is speaking to me inside my brain telling me to leave the girl, we don't need her, but apparently earbud implants are too much of a stretch.

the "m/m is an escape from misogyny" discourse has mostly revealed to me that the average tumblr user, regardless of where they stand on this particular issue, and I have a very different relationship to approaching sexism in fictional romance. like obviously I do think there's a good reason not to uncritically perpetuate egregiously misogynistic tropes and I don't blame women for not wanting to see female characters end up in romantic relationships with men who they the viewer consider misogynists (that being said, it is crucial to this conversation to understand what is unforgivable misogyny to one woman is often normalized and therefore understandable behaviors to another), but in my experience, a lot of attempts to create Certified Non-Misogynist Characters or Certified Non-Misogynist Worlds just ends up accidentally revealing the creator's own unconscious sexist biases so it's just better to, like, let the casual sexism that permeates relationships between men and women be an intentional part of the text and then examine it from there. if the audience is uncomfortable with that then they should reflect on it and come to their own conclusions as to how they feel about those sorts of behaviors, but by acknowledging that reality, the creator will have told a truer and more interesting story.
or to put it more plainly, I have yet to meet a person who is not sexist in some way or another, and so, I do not really expect that from fiction. furthermore, I do not think you can "escape" misogyny without first confronting its existence and any attempt to do so is ultimately futile.
FJORD USING THUNDER STEP TO GET YASHA OUT OF THE FORCE CAGE "IF YOU'RE WILLING"
THE LAST TIME HE TRIED TO THUNDER STEP HER OUT AND AWAY SHE WAS NOT WILLING.
THAT WAS KINGS CAGE.
The narrative parallels of the Nein have always been above and beyond even most scripted stories but it never fails to delight and amaze me.
