About The Apo...
So we read this poem called "Apo on the Wall", it is about what martial law is from the eyes of a child. I didn't really read the entire poem, I just took a look at it so I could answer our activity. But while I'm answering the questions I can slowly understand what the poem is trying to tell us. The Apo is referred to former president and dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos, it is pictured that the persona or child's father is in service of Marcos at the time of his dictatorship. And the father is keeping a picture of Marcos on his office wall. So in this part we can see that the father has a very loyal relationship with Marcos that he is keeping his pictures up on his wall. The father is also in the army so we can see that he is strict and firm in front of his child. The child is a curious kid that happen to wonder on his office and saw the picture.
The child refer Marcos on the picture as "scary Jesus", I laugh at that thought on the first time I read it but if you think of it, he really is. Maybe the picture has the same eyes as of da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" that follows you wherever you go. But like Jesus, Marcos is very influential and powerful in authority but in a scary way. Marcos punish whoever defies his authority. He tortures, execute and scares whoever he finds a threat to his leadership. He also have disciples or in this case his henchmen. He don't only have 12 like not so scary Jesus have, but a whole army force and the police. So just like in the last part of the poem said "He can see everything you do."
