We went on a cabin trip. I’d never been on one and had been looking forward to the infamous “cabin trip secrets”/ “what happened here, stays here” experience. We both …
Oof. Tales from the other side. Good read.
When people talk about procreation, I often wonder "what's the point?". Their reasons are often times so shallow and selfish like "who will take me to the bathroom when I'm 90 years old?" Well, if your whole purpose in having a child is to create a slave to help you in your old age, then who will help him in his old age? He'll have to create his own bathroom slave, too, and so will that slave. When does this vicious cycle end? How about someone gets up the guts to suffer through such things without burdening their offspring with the depressing task?

good things to remember
"Representative government itself is in crisis today, partly because it has lost, in the course of time, all institutions that permitted the citizens' actual participation, and partly because it is now gravely affected by the disease from which the party system suffers: bureaucratization and the two parties' tendency to represent nobody except the party machines. "
Hannah Arendt, 1969
“Your last option to support new bands is live music. Attend festivals, buy tickets, move outside of your familiar venues and clubs, see someone you’ve never heard of just to experience what they have to offer. Interact in the scene that you’re so desperate to make happen.
And, when Guns N’ Roses finally tours nationwide and makes a stop in Houston, not only must you catch the openers, but find out who their influences are and listen to them as well. Put away your phone, live in the actual moment of your short life and breathe. Breathe the same air as Slash, sing along to the same lyrics with Axl, bang your head to Duff McKagan’s bass lines.
Because in 20 years, when music is completely dead, this will be a TBT memory you can’t upload on your new iPhone15s. The outdated file will be incompatible anyway. “

Dualism
I just realized I’m attempting to make my aimless pursuit of knowledge a day job while performing loud music in seedy nightclubs by night.
An all around non-conformist nonetheless seeking ways to integrate himself into the greater society.

We teach children to strive for success, while every day giving subtle reminders that doing well makes them a target.
We teach adults to acquire as much as they can while extolling empty virtues of selflessness and charity.
We teach people to stand up for themselves but at the same time acquiesce to the cultural collective consciousness.
We are a society that is killing itself with contradiction.
