James was sitting in the little room they set aside for meetings. It was basically a glorified broom cupboard. In fact, there was a metal storage cupboard with new mop heads, brooms and an assortment of cleaning products along the back wall, as they barely used this room. 

James had dragged the table away from the wall and unstacked three chairs, placing two on one side and one opposite the others. He laid out Pandora’s resume and the notes he’d made, including a footnote on her cover letter to ask why she wanted such a drastic career change. He’d asked Reg, but he’d just shrugged and said he had no idea. Reg had been pretty unhelpful when it came to answering questions about Pandora. His dad came in with a coffee for each of them. 

“Thanks, Dad,” James said, taking a grateful sip of the scalding drink. 

“Marnie said she’s just walked in,” Monty told him. James nodded and ran a hand through his hair, hoping he didn’t look too much like he’d been dragged through a hedge backwards and upside down, but he didn’t hold out much hope. 

Marnie knocked on the door and opened it, knowing that they wouldn’t mind.

“Miss Rosier for you, Monty,” Marnie beamed as she waved Pandora in and closed the door behind her. Pandora took a seat when Monty motioned for her to, and her interview began.
