Jegulus microfic - 424 words
Slightly NSFW (but only very slightly because it hints at something that happened last night but nothing is actually said outright)
James and Regulus had just settled down on the couch, prepared for an afternoon of lying there in peace, when a knock came at the door.
"Shush, ignore it, love," James said when Regulus tensed.
"I'm going to go see who it is," Regulus said, moving to get off him.
"Reggie, this is our cuddle time," James said, looking up at him with big puppy eyes. "Just let them go away."
"Exactly," Regulus said, scowling. "This is our time, so I'm going to go see who it is so I can make sure they never come interrupting again."
"Reggie," James whined as Regulus got off him. "At least let me get the door for you."
"Nope, you stay right here," he said, pushing him back down onto the couch in a way that was unfairly hot.
James sighed, hearing his footsteps pattering away to the door. The doorknob turned, a rush of cool air entering the house as the door was opened.
James frowned, worried, before the door slammed shut and Regulus came storming back into the living room.
"What's wrong love?" James said warily. "Who was it?"
"James Potter," Regulus said, and James gulped. "Would you care to explain why Sirius, Peter and Remus are standing outside, holding an armful of snacks, and looking more than ready to hang out with you?"
"Oh," James said, realisation dawning on his face.
"Yes. Oh." Regulus crossed his arms.
"Reggie, I can explain," James pleaded. "Sirius wanted to come hang out, but he only messaged me this morning, and I was so tired that I forgot to reply to his message and tell him not to come, so he must have showed up anyway."
"You ruined our cuddle time because you were tired?" Regulus asked incredulously. James smirked, failing to hide a grin.
"Well, if it's any consolation, I'm pretty sure you can guess what I was tired from," he said suggestively. Regulus grabbed a cushion and hit him with it.
"Fine, they can come in, but you're sleeping on the couch tonight," Regulus said.
"No, please let me sleep with you," James said. "I need to keep you safe from nightmares. You know how good I am at fighting them off." He mimed throwing some punches at the air, and Regulus's cold poker face melted slightly.
"Fine, do whatever you want," he said, turning around to stalk back into their room, but James caught the slight hint of a smile on his face, and knew that he wasn't entirely in Regulus's bad books anymore.
