random things i’ve learnt during this school year

1. nobody is infallible - your parents, teachers, people you look up too - sometimes they can be wrong so don’t be afraid to think critically and disagree with them

2. five minutes of doing something productive is surely better than none

3. but its also not the end of the world when you sometimes don’t do anything productive

4. please, don’t let yourself burn out - r e s t

5. its easy to understimate the power of a good night sleep when youre doing something interesting in the evening. but try to be kind to future yourself and go to sleep earlier, it can make a huge difference

6. remember that in the night your problems can seem so much worse than they really are. dont think about them while in bed but instead say to yourself that you’ll come back to them the next day

7. try to always carry water, wherever you go

8. all of those intimidating, serious, formal, higher in dominance hierarchy people are human and not perfect! they’ve all cried, laughed, stressed, made silly or big mistakes and embarassed themselves at some point

9. you don’t need pretty notes at all to study well. sometimes (or even often) you have very limited time and there are better things to do than to write something slowly and neatly

10. help others at school if you can! be kind and compassionate! all students have different problems but we’re all in this together, let’s try to make each others’ lifes a bit easier and nicer

my rules and routine 🐝♡

General

700 calories on a weekday, 1000 (at a push) at the weekend

workout for at least 30 minutes a day on top of production rehearsals

drink 2+litres of water

cut out caffeine, you don’t need it.

sleep at 11pm weekdays, no later.

no lunch at school, only breakfast and dinner at home.

no food after 7pm

wake up at 6am

body check every friday

listen to weight loss subliminal’s for 30 minutes a day

don’t fucking mention about eating habits or weight loss and hide your eating disorder as much as possible. they cannot catch you relapsing this time.

track your calories using MFP

weigh yourself whenever you can

Appearance

wear concealer, mascara and eyebrow gel, just so you don’t look borderline fucking dead.

brush !! your !! hair

wash hair every sunday, tuesday and thursday.

shower every day and night, 10 minutes each time

shave everywhere on sundays

if you wear anything remotely short that reveals self harm etc, cover it with concealer or even better - wear something else.

School

study for at least 3 hours everyday, no breaks.

if you fail any exams, you’re a failure.

school is more important than spending time on anything else (apart from your eating disorder)

you can’t fail. end of story.

🎀Things to do instead of eating pt.3🎀

•do laundry

•do your hair

•learn about a brand (see where the source their stuff)

•get some books from a library

•take your dog on a walk/ a neighbors dog

• help someone with homework

•look through a old yearbook and put sticky notes w/comments on people you remember

•write people love letters (doesn’t have to be romantic) hide them

•origami

•drive somewhere/ go somewhere w/ someone

• make someone a playlist

•make yourself a playlist

•question your beliefs (let’s say your democratic, watch a video with someone with a different view and say why you disagree with them)

•water wildflowers (make sure you aren’t overwatering!!)

•donate old things

• write compliments on notes and leave them in places (optional: leave your phone number/ ask a question and see if anyone calls you back with a opinion, Ex: “dogs are better then cats”)

•pass out balloons

•feed some ducks/swans/geese (we have swans in are area and even though they are a little aggressive, if you feed them they wag there tails at you. So cute!)

•cloudwatching

•make a pillow fort

•blow bubbles (not only aesthetic but you can also get a bubble wand. Their pretty cheap but super fun)

•learn to shuffle cards

•draw something with crayons

•or color in a coloring book

•mess with marbles

•see how many dominos you can line up

•or play janga

•any board game really

🌱 post-binge interventions 🌱

Binges (whether they be slip-ups from our planned restriction or uhh… legitimate 2000-in-an-hour binges) happen to all of us at one point. Here’s how you can act fast to make less of them happen, and reduce their impact.

🌱 Drink a bottle of water. Right now, yes. As soon as you’re done binging. Drink about 500-750 mL (two to three cups) in one go, two minutes (no faster). It probably will not be dangerous but after a binge like that drinking that much water moderately fast will make you physically feel like crap. Do this immediately after every binge. At some point you will have instrumentally conditioned drinking lots of water to the act of binging, and (because you feel like shit afterwards) classical conditioned intense aversion to the whole act as a cluster.

🌱 Is the food you binged on yours alone? Will no one else touch it? Good. Add like, a bunch of salt and spices to it. If it’s liquidy or creamy, mix the salt and spices in well. Depending on how long the food lasts and how often you’re binging, you may even forget about it. Next time you will either not eat this food, because you KNOW it’s contaminated (so to speak), or you will eat it and be absolutely disgusted. True disgust is one of the most powerful emotions in that classically conditioning it to something creates strong aversion. With food and when it comes to a DIY approach it’s tricky, but it can work – at least it does for addiction disorders like alcoholism, where a therapy for severe alcoholics is to literally add a drug to the drink that makes them feel horrid, so that over time they stop.

🌱 Write down everything you ate just now. How many calories was that? How many calories overboard your TDEE did you go? Subtract your TDEE (most likely way higher than where you restrict) from your total calorie intake today. Divide that number by seven, and subtract THAT from how much you were planning to restrict that week for each day. This is your cap for every day for the next week. If any of those days ends up with less than 500, extend this to 10 days. It will take you one week or maybe 10 days to make sure you don’t gain because of this slip up, but at least you know it’s not the end of the world. You CAN do damage control.

🌱 Prepare some green tea. Green tea’s been shown to “increase metabolism” (increase resting metabolism) – either due to the caffeine or catechols but that doesn’t really matter because at one cup of tea that’s still quite a negligible effect. It also makes you feel better because it’s warm or pleasant or whatever – this one matters, because right now you need to prioritize your emotional wellness. How are you doing? How will you make yourself feel better? You deserve love, even if you may not feel like it at the moment. Take care of you.

🌱 And just on that note, careful with “metabolism increasing” substances. That term is thrown around everywhere and at this point it could mean anything. A lot of these foods also increase your hunger (like coffee! I would drink lots of black coffee every morning and it would make my binges worse!) The whole point of the bullet above is you should make yourself something nice because right now more than ever you deserve some consolation and care. You will get through this, and next time you will do better, and the time after that you will do better. It’s not the end of the world or even the end of your restriction.

✨ Step 1: Take a few deep breaths: the urge to binge is irrational and often caused by anxiety and etc. Deep breathing will help you think clearer;

✨ Step 2: Immediately look at thinspo: this will likely guilty you, making it easier to resist;

✨ Step 3: Visualize your goals: think about the step back you’re about to take;

✨Step 4: Get away: go as far away from the food as possible;

✨ Step 5: Create a distraction: clean, study, workout, etc. Anything that involves activity will help ease your mind;
