Stranger from above

Aspen was startled when he heard a voice. He turned his head and looked down. No.. there’s no one down here.. Okay that’s weird.. His heart was beating slightly faster. He tried looking around again, this time by looking up. There he saw a figure, like it’s sitting on a branch. Is that a person..? What’s he doing up there? 

"Lost? Ah, that’s why you’re on the tree? To get to a high place to see if you can find something?" Aspen assumed, chuckling. "There’s the town square and you can find people mostly there," he said, shouting. "I can show you the way if you want." He thought maybe he could show the stranger the way, after he finished placing the bird houses if the stranger wouldn’t mind waiting.. But the stranger needed to get down first.  "I’ll lend you this ladder to get you down." He still hadn’t realized yet the stranger had something that ordinary people like him didn’t have..

"Ohhh! There’s a town nearby, you say? That’s great!" replied the other delightedly from the tree branch. He seemed eager to accept Aspen’s offer to show him the way. "I’d really appreciate that, mister! Hahaha.. It’ll be really bad if I should get lost again,"

The winged hybrid blinked in momentary confusion as the redheaded man offered to lend him his ladder, even starting to climb down again to do so. He didn't know that Aspen hadn't noticed that he has wings so he could fly. Waving his hands frantically in protest, “E-eh..! Th-there’s no need to trouble yourself with that sir..;;; I don’t need it, so, please just go ahead and finish your work-”

To show that he really didn’t need a ladder to get down, the young man let himself fall from the high branch, spreading his wings to float himself to the ground.

He called up to the redheaded man; he would have shaken hands to be polite, but that could wait until Aspen had climbed down. Obby sure didn’t want the man to fall and get injured if he tried to do that while halfway up a ladder…

It was Thursday, and it was the offday for the workers at Cannoli Carpentry. But the forest had become like the second home to Aspen, so he was at the forest, just wandering around.. and doing his personal hobbies like making some bird houses for the birds (or the small critters like squirrels too). He had done another two houses and he was going to place them at the forest. He had found a tree and decided to put one there. He walked to the tree, with his little ladder and the houses…

Flying very low, the stranger caught sight of something-- A glimpse of red among the gaps of green. Red hair? Anyway, red is quite a noticeable color when glimpsed among green like that. Had I finally found a person he could get directions from, thought the young man, going in closer. He navigated to land in the branches of a tree next to the one Aspen is in the process of climbing up with the help of the ladder.

"Say, excuse me mister-- but can I ask you a question?" said the winged stranger. To anyone unused to having people come from the air, it might come as a surprise as if to hear a tree suddenly start to speak. "Am I anywhere near civilization here? I've been travelling for some time, and I've kinda gotten lost.. ahahaha;;;;..."

The stranger laughed a bit, looking sheepish.

Not far up in the skies above Flan Forest, a young man with black wings could be seen hovering this way and that way in an uncertain manner. Occasionally he’d stop at some point above the trees, a confused expression on his face. After a while, he’d fly yet a different way and repeat the same action again. The trees were thinner in this section of the forest; The young man hovered lower and peered through the branches, hoping to spot someone who could maybe help him out of getting lost…
