i used to have such a clear sense
of the function of tumblr vs. the function of livejournal vs. the function of twitter. tumblr feels more confessional now in the (proleptic) absence of twitter and the ruins of livejournal even though there is still dreamwidth. maybe this is actually a dreamwidth post?
i went to a poetry reading yesterday in someone’s backyard. two people read. a few poems were about the poet’s cats; taking care of a sick cat, catsitting, etc. it made me miss tully, on the astroturf and tarp, in the cold. it got colder as they read. the hosts provided samosas, four dips, crackers, and a themed cake. i met the person hosting another poetry reading this weekend whose flier was designed by one of my co-editors, one of the many girls i admire furtively and want to become better friends with. i didn’t know anyone besides the acquaintance who invited me, but it turns out not a lot of people read poetry because i had a mutual friend with at least three of the people i talked to. another person is my neighbor. the acquaintance gave me a copy of a book he wrote, and i felt very touched. funny how getting older has made me less cynical but i guess that’s one way things can go.

We did an opera-singing scene, and there was a dancing one too… I don’t know why it was never used. Maybe it was too funny.
