Last of Us Season Finale got me like 👀🤔😫😬😭🫣
Whether you loved it or not.... emotional stuff!
Regardless of what happens now.... I fear we will never experience this level of depth now. We can't. They are so far removed from this level of connection that it's depressing
So.... we didn't get this. It was stolen. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed the last 2 episodes, more than the rest of the series, but they've definitely gone in a different direction. I'm not seeing the same level of connection or empathy shown by Ellie. Those moral wobbles she has in the game seem non existent, which I find disappointing. I know she was upset after Mel, but then she seemed to bounce back and just be pissed with Abby again. I feel game Ellie was much more emotional and made me feel her pain more. She was so torn with what she was doing... so scared at times of not defeating Abby but then worried about losing Dina. Scared of not avenging Joel but then worried about losing herself. It was such an emotional watch. Personally, the most emotional scene for me was poor Mel and the baby... so devastating! They did a better job than in the game. I haven't really been drawn in the same with any of Ellie's emotions and definitely not with Ellie and Dina's relationship.
If Abby Anderson had been plus sized in the game and HBO shrank her down for the show, the internet would be on fire.
People would be writing thinkpieces, calling it fatphobia, analyzing every goddamn frame, and frankly, they'd be well within their right to.
Why is it different now?
Why is it okay to completely erase her body and minimize what defined Abby's arc and most importantly, the trauma that led her entire storyline?
Abby wasn't just muscular for aesthetics. I've said it before and I'll say it a million times. Her body told a story of grief, discipline, obsession, and survival. It meant something. To flatten that into something more "palatable" for TV is not some neutral act. It's erasure in a media space that badly needs accurate representation.
Stop acting like it's not a big deal. Stop telling me I'm somehow being mean to Kaitlyn Dever because I'm speaking out about my lived experience. If Abby had been plus sized, this would be a discourse storm and you know it. But she was built like a brick shithouse, and that strength made people super uncomfortable so they downsized her.
Male gazed the everloving shit out of her.
They didn't even bother looking for actresses that better fit the role. They didn't ask Abby's actress to hit the weights like many, many performers before her. She is meant to be a soldier in a militia. Come on, people.
They simply didn't care. And it has fueled the hatred against Abby's game character tenfold as a result. The misinformation about muscular women is skyrocketing and it will only continue to do so.
That should make you just as angry. We're supposed to show up for all women. Not just cherry picking what we think deserves attention.
Fuck Craig Mazin and fuck Neil Druckmann for refusing to acknowledge the hurt here.
And if you're a woman, and you're gaslighting other women into feeling shitty for speaking up about this, give your head a genuine shake.
I show up for your right for representation.
Where are you now?
I'm sick to death of having to defend myself so I'm not doing it anymore. I've been called a misogynist and a body shamer.
What is more misogynistic, more body shaming than erasing a strong ass woman and replacing her with the opposite body type?
Cease with this bullshit.
Rewatched Arcane and I fall in love with Caitlyn Kiramman even more. I support all her rights and wrongs 🥰 Look at her, she can shoot me in the leg and I will crawl back asking for more
Isabela Merced needs to CHILL OUT like girl I get it you're breathtakingly gorgeous and effortlessly charming and insanely talented. You don't gotta KEEP giving me new reasons to love you wtf
This scene 🥺😭
Whoever made this at Max Australia deserves a fucking raise.

i’m so unbelievably pissed at this show for having the gall to make ellie and dina walk through the capitol hill bookstore and rather than have it be a moment of connection and discovery for the two of them - thinking specifically of dina saying “ellie look it’s us” when she found that lesbian pulp novel - they instead have them cracking jokes and making fun of it, with witty remarks about the “happy proud rainbow town” as if the decorations all came from some naive happy-go-lucky folk who had never known the hardships of the apocalypse
and then they turn around and give dina the same contrived sad homophobic parent origin story that every other queer character has. stripping away her confidence and her history and everything that made game dina stand out. dina, who not only was bisexual but was jewish, and therefore knows better than most about both the sadness and pride that comes with having faced the worst and come out the other side. and instead they made dina some scared, ashamed little girl too uncomfortable to even say the word “sex.” why does shame get to exist in your apocalyptic world but not pride. you have to be joking
the very least we expected of this show was to have respect for their queer characters in the same way the game did. and they can’t even do that. if you won’t respect me as a queer person then why should i respect your work. go fuck yourself
Gamers after episode 4 TLOU
No but seriously, everyone okay?
Message if you want to chat about it! A problem shared and all that
Honestly the only way I can watch the tlou show is by completely separating it from the game. Its good as its own thing but thinking about the game while watching it makes me want to turn the show off
This
Okay, so episode 4 done. I'm seeing lots of "See! We told you so! Slow burn."
I don't think people are grapsing how much time has passed from episode 3 until now. Slow burn over a couple of days...? 🤣
My take is that Dina has admitted knowing about Ellies feelings which makes the tent scene worse for me. Seems like it was an intentional dig to make Ellie feel bad... yeah I did go back to Jesse...
I understand Dina's explanation about her mother, lots of us have been there, myself included! Does that excuse the Jesse comment? Personally, I don't think so. We now know Dina wasn't confused and figuring her feelings out, she was scared to enter a w|w relationship. That is a different stance from what everyone has been saying about her.
Also, the sex scene had me actually cringe. Telling Ellie she's pregnant and then jumping her seems super weird to me... I get there are a lot of emotions flying around so I can understand Dina going for it but not Ellie reciprocating in that moment. That's a very emotional situation and I don't know if I would have taken a second to ask my partner how they were feeling? They are young though so look, I'm not condemning it.
It's just weird.
It felt weird...
Also, on the rooftop looking out over the buildings asking Dina to think about staying behind. Perfect opportunity to say "You go, I go". But no... we still don't ger that!
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts and takes on it if you feel like sharing 💚
Regardless of what happens now.... I fear we will never experience this level of depth now. We can't. They are so far removed from this level of connection that it's depressing
End of story.
Damn right, because HBO just erased it... 💩
Shannon Woodward's favourite line for Dina. It says everything it needs to in just a few words. It highlights their relationship, their friendship, their history, their commitment, and their love.
You go, I go. End of Story
Yesterday I posted a review of S2E3 and one of my biggest criticisms was how the show is handling Dina’s character thus far. And people hit me with the “they’re fleshing out her character”, “her relationship with Ellie is supposed to be slow burn” or “she’s to be in denial about her sexuality” because there’s always an excuse to try and silence any criticisms when it comes to this show.
I legitimately do not mind that they’re fleshing out the characters and as a matter of fact I even said before on a previous post that I liked what they did with Dina’s character in the first episode because it added more onto her as a character. What I’m not a fan of is what they’ve done to her character in E3. Dina is character who’s known for her confidence, she’s knows who she is and she definitely didn’t need Ellie around to help her realize that she’s bisexual. I also don’t like the lines that were given to her character in that episode because they seemed out of character and like they were feeding in bi stereotypes. I don’t mind when a character is fleshed out, especially one like Dina who deserves that, but I don’t think a character needs to have parts of their personality or who they are stripped from them in order for them to be fleshed out.
And to the people who keep mentioning that their relationship is slow burn, I get it. I know y’all don’t like when people have a different opinion from the norm when it comes to this show but I do like their relationship in the game more because while so many people like to say it was rushed I liked that their relationship already had a solid foundation to build up on. They already had an established friendship, Dina did not go back to Jesse, Dina already had feelings for Ellie and Ellie had feelings for Dina, they had already kissed and their relationship was able to grow from that. Where as in the show we really haven’t seen much of the build up in their friendship and they barely have a romantic connection. And with the next episode possibly bringing up Dina’s pregnancy and Ellie’s immunity it’s just going be interesting to see how they handle their relationship going forward especially with that time line change.
This is a perfect mirror image of my thoughts exactly. Except written far better than I ever could 💚
This is kind of what episode 3 felt like for Dellie fans...
