I feel like no one talks about Big Boss’ uncanny, otherworldly charisma. The guy’s a siren in human form, it’s crazy.
He just seems to have this natural ability to sway people, often times unintentionally.
The fact that he was The Boss’ last, and arguably favorite disciple. She talks about how she waited for his birth and how it had to be him who killed her, not just for the mission, but for more personal reasons.
Eva, who while used to playing the role of the femme fatale, actually fell in love with Big Boss for real. So much so, that she volunteered to have his clones/children.
Then there’s Zero who wanted to turn him into a sort of idol/mascot for the Patriots, to the point of cloning him. Then Zero got so upset after Big Boss left the Patriots that he continuously tracked/fought him and even went through the trouble of making a body double for Big Boss.
And of course we can’t forget Ocelot, who was so mystified with Big Boss after their first meeting, that he remained obsessed with the man for the rest of his life. Following him to the ends of the earth and doing all sorts of crazy things to other people and himself, all for Big Boss.
Another one we can’t forget is Kaz, who was also taken with Big Boss after their first encounter and followed a similar path to Ocelot. Although Kaz eventually snapped out of his awe at the man, he was still very devoted for awhile.
Also the entire concept of MSF/DD just being devoted to him entirely. Living and dying by his orders. They’re very much like a cult with how they practically worshipped him.
His clone children were obsessed with as well, in different aspects though. Still, it’s important to include.
It’s just so crazy to me how much charisma he seems to have. This is the same guy who eats wild animals and is enthusiastic about cardboard boxes… I guess many of us would be captivated by him too.
