So i’ve been working on some re-designs on the characters for the short. Here is a greyscale line-up of all the characters.:) I’ll be locking the design aspect of the characters down soon and move onto color.

HELLO PEOPLE!

I’ve been absent for quite awhile, leaving this production blog kinda dry:/. I do have to apologies for that... guess I cannot blame my absence on anything else then ‘life’ happening, and creating a short movie on your own is like climbing up a mountain while carrying a donkey. In other words, it’s really hard. 

Throughout my journey I’ve fallen OUT of love with “Obscurum”, and IN love multiple times, and sometimes you have to step away to get a better perspective of the story... to see things clearer and figure out exactly what it is you want to tell.  

I come bearing GREAT NEWS however, and can say that I now see things clearer after FINALLY locking down the script a couple of months back! The bottom line is that I feel inspired again, and i can’t wait to start posting more production stuff again! 

The plan is to create a production bible so that I can start pitching to get in some funding for the project. So stay tuned, there will be much more to come!!

Hi,

I wanted to take a moment to post a short movie I made in 2016!  It’s called Rumble in the Jungle, and is about an Elephant who loves to dance, and a curious little mouse. 

It was a side project which I’d started on in 2015 and was really just meant for my eyes only as an animation exercise, but it turned into something a little more! :D 

After doing it’s festival runs around the world last year, I wanted to finally share it with you guys! Hope you like it!

I’m currently playing around in After Effects by doing some production shots of how I want the final movie to look. From “Rough to Final Touch” process. I made a little video of all the steps.

Sorry for not posting so much in the last month, but I’ve been quite busy with, “drumroll”, please! The Animatic! *Crowd cheers*!! 

It’s a really important step into finally producing this film! The stories changed so much, (for the better) that after this animatic I got a little emotional... 

Maybe it’s also from the lack of sleep. Haha! Anyway, here is a little sneak peek at the animatic.

Here are 2 more concept arts! I did the 2nd one early on when I was still experimenting with how the color scheme would work throughout the film. I really love the desaturated backgrounds with minimal colors though!:D

I’ve done about 11 of these now, and will soon move onto designing some interior shots!

Hello!

Hope everyone’s having a great week! Here are a couple of other concept art. I love doing these, as they give me a good idea of the look I want the movie to have. The left depicts a “flashback” scene, so I wanted it to have a different textures then the 2nd piece. 

I’m moving towards having minimal colors throughout the movie, mostly keeping the b&w aspect of it with colors sprinkled throughout!

Anyway! More to come soon, onto the next!

Started doing more concept art for Obscurum! It’s quite fun to explore and flesh out mood and atmosphere which i want the film to have!

Woop woop! Finished my beatboard, a short version of the whole story. I tried to do it with 15 panels, but thought the story needed a little more abbreviations to be understood... so I went with 18 in the end. I still need to do some more concept art, then I will move onto the storyboard/animatic!

In the process of doing the concept art, I thought of making a poster just for fun XD (I haven’t even made the film yet). I liked it though, so I will use this later as the main poster after the movie is done though!

Continuing my external world explorations of “The House”. I really like this sketch... it’s a little strange, but there is something creepy and unsettling about the house looking almost like a tree trunk. It also looks like a nuclear waste blast. :)

Hello! So I took a months break to focus on Inktober:) But I’m back to working on the film and I’m happy to say I’ve moved forward to fleshing out the “World” we will inhabit in “Obscurum”.

These are quite rough drawings, but I’m trying to find the “shape-language” which will run throughout the film.

Wohoooo! After some delays, I can say the design portion of the characters is (drum role...), locked down!

Now I will move over to concept and design and then, Animatic!

Sorry for the long absence, but I’ve been working hard on finishing the character design part of the production. Here is the finished turnaround of Kuno! 

As you can see, I’m kinda going for more of a flat design, which will be a little easier to animate. Done in TVpaint

Started the coloring process of the last character in my story, “The Monster”! 

I’ve been a little delayed due to some freelance work, but I’m back on track now and hopefully I’ll be done with the color and modelsheets by the end of this month!:D
