#ooc.#spoiler alert: this is possibly controversial ?#it’s because it is literally based upon a s*xist ideal of using a woman’s death or distress to further a man’s character development #I love that webb peter gets to have that moment #but when it comes at the cost of MJ becoming a prop to further his emotional development??#not to mention that’s all that tasm Gwen’s death serves to do anyway #it feels out of place in that film for it to happen the way that it does when gwen has been shown to be peter’s equal throughout both films #when gwen showed so much agency throughout the films but suddenly she is taken by the villain and dropped to her death #when she could have died in a way that continued to allow her to maintain her agency and die a hero #same with MJ. she had been shown to be an equal to peter but we go and allow her to become a damsel for the hero?#like don’t get me wrong I am still a fan of that moment between webb peter and MJ but I think this is truly why I have such a problem with #those comparisons
