I have been informed, of the most RIDICULOUS theory recently. My (as I now know) homophobic cousin informed me, that there is a movement in the USA, that is brainwashing children into being non-binary and Trans. I've been told that didney plus of all places is giving kids subliminal messaging to do this. Oh, and get this right. There's places that are taking kids (without their parents consent) and giving them gender-changing surgeries.

They insinuate that the discrimination, the thousands of dollars, the doctors that insist on hours and hours of therapy, only to say no, aren't real. That it's being forced onto kids. And it made me so mad.

It's a fairly common misunderstanding of numbers, statistics, and society as a whole. It was the same homophobia when homosexuals started to get rights: "What about the children?!?!?!" (But they will gladly let them die in a school shooting, starve to death because their family can't afford food, etc)

When a group of people who are bravely taking the step to say "I'm transgender and I deserve to be treated the way everyone else does" alot of people will resonate with that and alot of people will start to come out more and more as transgender. Simply educating children on these topics, a lot of Republicans have a problem with because they are scared of change, or their "religion" has a problem with it. Transgender individuals are an easy target for them because they are different from the norm of society.

With the number of individuals coming out as transgender (still an extremely low percentage compared to the rest of the population), it's only natural and expected that there will be more individuals taking the steps towards transitioning. Children who see this taking place may be confused and may be transgender or they may not be. That's why they have to undergo so many rigorous tests and procedures to ensure they get it right.
