clara/twelve fic: but we’re so happy [rewrites pt 1/2]

hey everyone - the rewrites of but we’re so happy are up and completed! not too much has changed in part one, but a lot of details have been added/altered that are important for later! part 2 is radically different with an added 12k words, so i’ll appreciate any/all feedback! thank you!!

part one: “I knew them both,” Jack says quietly. “I watched them fall in love. I watched them change.” Their knees touch, and her hand is on his thigh, and he’s smiling at her like she’s the sole reason he’s alive; Rory pictures the sun and the earth, orbiting. [from the outside looking in. the song repeats, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, haunting him. so, maybe he’ll never know. 10k words]

part two: Nobody has ever kissed her like this in her entire life; she swears she’s spent years building up to this, decades, millenniums. Somewhere, a star is dying and a galaxy is being born and her head is a black hole; in every other dimension a version of her stops and takes in a breath, missing something. She says hotly, “If we’re already going to hell, you might as well just fuck me tonight.” [she’s the devil herself and he never stood a chance. 27k words. mature.]

@twelveclara I love your stories and always am following it religiously so thank you for the update!! Whenever I have a down day, I would look your stories up to reread over and over :) I rarely do this but I just have to let you know how wonderful your stories are (I think you know that already hehe). Your mastery of the language is astonishing and it’s what keep luring me back again and again!

As mention by someone else, I also love this series the first time around, so I was ecstatic when you added something extra. For part one, I really enjoy the extra details in Rory’s observation into Twelve/Clara’s relationship; and also the inclusion of Martha’s part into their relationship was a really nice touch in connecting part one and part two of the series (among the other connections of course :) ).

And for part 2. I was debating which versions I like more, but the problem is I love them both!!! The previous one got this innocent air about it that I don’t think I am able to describe in words no matter how I try; I don’t think I would do it justice to be honest in describing how pure that version feels. This current version still embraces the innocence of the original, but yet it makes my heart ache more than the original. Don’t get me wrong, I giggled at their cute banters, but my heart ache for them when they’re trying to not define their relationship. I guess I just want them to be happy :) And that’s what is amazing about your writing. While we as readers just want the happy ending, you manage to take the time to flesh out the hardships and difficulties of getting to that happy ending and thus tugging our heartstrings along the way using nothing but just your mastery of the English language.

So thank you for writing! And I am anxiously looking forward to Part 3!! I will try to wait patiently for it :) (& sorry for the long post!)

UM IM SPEECHLESS AT THIS COMMENTARY??? so i always say this when people take the time to write me feedback, but it’s always true, so just know that i’m blown away and honestly appreciate the fact that you took the time to write this to me!! don’t apologize!!!

i really enjoyed seeing how you interpreted the rewrite vs the original, bc obviously as the writer i have no idea how people are going to take it, what they like and won’t like, etc. so i’m happy to hear that even though it got dirtier (yikes) it did retain that sort of innocence feelings-wise. i did like the purity of v1 but i decided it was out of place for this particular au! i definitely think their buildup of getting to that happy ending needs to be fully fleshed out - like, part 2 literally took place over the course of like, a month and a week - but next chapter will be a lot more development and on some levels, definitely calls back to that purity. so i hope you will enjoy it & thanks so much for enjoying the story so far! :) <3

@twelveclara Hehe no problem you deserve it :D I managed to distinguish between the two because of the countless of times I read it ;) random question: will you have the original part 2 up sometime in the future when you’re done with it because I kinda of love that one too...I don’t want you to do it now, since it might confuse your readers when you have your part 3 up :)

If you want me to draw something, please don’t phrase it in the form of a demand. I find it extremely off-putting to be put in the spotlight on posts and reblogs, and while I am flattered you really want me to do it, I don’t much care for the attitude that seems to come with it.

I have a day job so therefore all my art is done in my free time, and I am not paid to do anything unless it’s commissioned of me, so generally I don’t draw requests because I’m usually occupied with something else I’m doing.

Not trying to be rude here, guys, just honest about how I know I operate.
