Where is Obsoleet?
I haven't made a new episode in a while. I apologize for that. Let's talk about what has happened in the interim.
Episode eight came out in February, and I released a short test video a month after with my new camera. In the month of April, I started working on a short documentary, but here is where the snags started. What it really comes down to is my computer being unable to handle editing high definition video. I edited together the footage from the first shoot after a few days, but trying to do anything more than splice clips is next to impossible. I can't color correct without crashing, precision editing cannot be done with choppy video, and I barely have enough resources to run my editing software yet alone any other applications.
Let's step aside from this for a minute.
In early May, I started the SaveRev3 project. I actually hinted at this in Obsoleet as an un-named project. Anyways, with the the help of others I have archived all of Revision3's "Archived Shows" including ones they removed from their site. A nice accomplishment if you ask me. On top of this, I started a new website for the project called Anarchivism. Anarchivism is an ad-hoc/umbrella/do-ocracy destination for archiving proejcts which has already expanded past the Revision3 efforts to cover other video shows, audio shows, hacker conference media, and demoscene discs. With any luck, it will only get larger.
Aside from this, I have been writing more. A lot more. I have been keeping SaveRev3 status updates, general reviews, editorials, etc. and it has given a new spark to my old habits. Aside from writing for my own site, I have also been contributing articles to The New Tech, a wonderful video podcast and community-oriented site.
This leads in to what's next. I had originally thought about releasing short one-segment videos to pass the time before I build a brand new computer with all the bells and whistles (Which I'm starting early August). Instead of doing these one-off segments for Obsoleet, I got the idea to contribute them to other shows. I am planning on creating segments for both The New Tech and BSOD in the near future before starting season 2 of Obsoleet. This way, I can stil make video while getting my computer together, and have some of the editing responsibilities split with others.
I also plan on branching back out into audio. The New Tech is planning a weekly radio radio show that I hope to be involved with in some capacity. I am also planning an episode of Hacker Public Radio, which has been on the to-do list since before it was even called Hacker Public Radio (TWAT represent!). In addition to all of this, I've been considering revamping Techtat so that it has its own podcast in addition to the articles.
So where are we exactly with Obsoleet? Season 2 will pick up after I build an editing rig. Plain and simple. In the mean time, I'll produce content for other shows, so you can still get your fix. As a little bonus, I've recently registered obsoleet.com (which I've been waiting to be free since starting the show) and have migrated the site over there (Update your bookmarks). It still needs some work, but it's getting there bit by bit.
As always, let me know what you think. If you have any additional ideas, suggestions, or gripes, you know how to find me.
Monday
I made a little test video yesterday with my new camera. It's not perfect, but it's something. Check it out below, or click the title to go to vimeo and watch it in high definition.
Graphics Anyone?
For the blip.tv account, it has come to my attention that Obsoleet needs some new graphics in the following dimensions: 540x800, 980x400, 220x150. Instead of adapt my same old design, I am posing it to the community to see if anyone can come up with anything else, and have their work showcased on the page (and anywhere else I feel like). I may also adapt designs for shirts later on down the line.
So if it catches your fancy, fire up Photoshop or Gimp and let me see what you can come up with!
Going Social
As I start pre-production on Season 2, I went and updated some of Obsoleet's more social platforms.
There is now a Google Plus page located at, https://plus.google.com/109504373189656584477/posts
The Facebook page now has a permanent address here, https://www.facebook.com/Obsoleet
The Twitter page as always, https://twitter.com/#!/obsoleettv
I've also set up Obsoleet with the micro-donation platform Flattr here, http://flattr.com/thing/500710/Obsoleet as well as Bitcoin which you can find on the Donation page.
Got any suggestions on how to bring Obsoleet into more of a social scene? Contact me and let me know.

Auduino and Stuff
It's been a bit more than two months since the last episode of Obsoleet hit the internet, and you might be wondering what the deal with that is. Well, a multitude of things come into play here. My personal life, and my professional life have undergone some changes lately, and I don't have the time or energy I once did. I am by no means saying that I have no time whatsoever, things have just hit a crawl. Many of my projects and projects I am involved in are slowing down, though one is actually moving again after years (more on this in the future), and all this is being shifted and optimized as I work with my schedule to do more things I enjoy doing.
Having said that, I still constantly toy with everything. I recently bought an Arduino Uno and set off to build an Auduino that I hope to toy with a bit. It's a pretty cool and simple analog synthesizer that can make some awesome sounds. I literally sat turning nobs for an hour I was so impressed by it. I also managed to make a little demo video to show what I did,
It isn't a 'segment' by any means, but it is something cool that I thought deserved to be filmed. Will it make its way into a future Obsoleet episode? I hope so. Hope you can find it as interesting as I do.
Torrent RSS
I have "created" an RSS feed for the torrents of episodes available here,
http://feeds.feedburner.com/ObsoleetTorrents
I basically made a feedburner pointed at an RSS feed that corresponds to searching for 'obsoleet' on Kickass-Torrents. This way, if I upload a new torrent, it will pop up in the feed. Now, I used feedburner so there is an easy transition if I ever decide to handle the RSS feed for the torrents in another fashion.

Annoucing IPTV Torrents!
So I'm sure many of you know my work with the IPTV Archive, and in a similar idea a new site called IPTV Torrents has officially launched today. This project is spearheaded by Corrosion of DeAuthThis, secret52 of Hak.5 torrents, as well as myself. The site is a cross between a public and private torrent site. While you can download torrents without registering, the real fun comes when you become a member. You can upload content, comment on torrents, search for lost shows, and become part of the community!
The idea for the site came around a month ago, and quickly went into a closed testing period. After it proved stable enough, it was expanded to a closed beta and has been so until today, where it is now completely public.
IPTV Torrents offers great potential. Not only can it be a great service for finding older, lost iptv shows, but can also be a great resource for newer ones. Why wade through dozens of pages of download links when you can click one and be done? It can even act as a launch pad for show creators to share their content, talk with other creators, and get connected with potential viewers.
Though the site is still in its early stages, and a bit rough around the edges, it needs all the support it can get. If you think it might interest you, check it out. We are open to all ideas, criticism, and compliments.Feel free to use all aspects of the site, and show your support through the IRC, Twitter, or Facebook page if you desire.
Happy IPTVing.

Lack of Episode
So there has not been an episode release in a two months. I hinted it may happen, and it has. Why? you may ask. Well, there have been numerous setbacks to take into mind. For one, school is demanding more time than I had anticipated. There is also the problem of a combination of leaking and flooding within my filming area. This ended up ruining a book shelf and temporarily scattering the contents of the shelf. So this leaves me with little working space.
So what does this all mean? Well, I have failed to release on time, but the show is anything but dead. The next few episodes may be a bit more strangely cobbled together than usual and feature some new filming locations. Same content, new style.
I'd also like to add that I've also been devoting a bit more of my energy to my blog as well as The IPTV Archive, the latter of which I have been ignoring for near six months. The more I spread my attention, the better there is a chance that all of my projects will come together to work in chorus.
The time off hasn't been completely wasted. Below are some stills of things I have been messing with that may find themselves in future episodes. Thanks for sticking around, and I hope to have something out soon.
RSS Feed Update
I realized today that the RSS feed was pointed at the wrong place. It allowed you to get the episodes, but it was the feed for the iTunes releases. You don't have to do anything on your end to see the changes, and by seeing this post you can be assured everything is working.
