「✖ ✖ 」: “ I— I’ll go c-check it out... I think it was outside... ”
“I think it depends more on your personal style, really. However, I am sure Yukari would be happy to take you shopping if you were interested in going.”
「✖ ✖ 」: “ I’m not sure I would be a proper shopping partner... though I certainly would not object to going. Are these pieces a particular style? They look like something I saw in the karaoke booth once... ”

❝Well, with the proper training you’ll probably be good in a month or so….though it requires a lot of mileage.❞
「✖ ✖ 」: “ You really think so? Only a month...? ... ... ... L-Like a boot camp? ”
Aigis had little experience with these so called ‘outings with friends’ but from her observations- this is what people did after school. The paired and grouped off and departed to clubs and restaurants and the mall. It seemed as if this was much a part of the routine of school as the actual classes.
❝Thank you. I appreciate it greatly Fuuka-san.❞
Fuuka-san indulging her curiosity was quite fortunate. She had not been sure if it would be a burden to take her to someplace where she did was not required to go. Strange that before all things outside of battle with Shadow were irrelevant to her- but now that she attended school it only made sense for her to have apt knowledge the other aspects of daily routine. Walking with Fuuka-san gave her even more opportunity to observe. So many people. Doing so many things she did not understand.
The concept of ‘charm was especially unfamiliar to her. ‘To give delight and arouse admiration’ was the definition she got- but that hardly seemed to explain it. Nor was she sure how it was accrued. Receiving an intangible benefit from a beverage seemed an even stranger claim. The café was rather busy, filled with people chattering and the clanking of glass cups as severs scurried around taking orders and refilling beverages.
❝A cover. That is most wise. I will pretend to drink so that I ‘fit in’. Do you come here often Fuuka-san? ❞
「✖ ✖ 」: “ E-Eh? ” The question caught her off-guard, embarrassment burning her cheeks. She should’ve expected Aigis to be direct. She looked away and attempted to straighten herself. “ Um— no... not usually. ” Point of fact; never at all before today.
When they were finally seated amongst the crowd Fuuka’s head swivelled about, watching different people raise their cups or smile in a care-free fashion. Now that they were lost among so many people, the analyst felt more at ease. Standing and moving amongst others always made her slightly self-concious. Warm brown eyes danced to-and-fro over the menu displayed at the table. It wasn’t a particularly “fancy” shop, but it was quite popular for what it did.
Briefly Fuuka wondered what effect the special coffee might have on her. She’d never thought herself possessing any particular attribute, especially not charm. She decided to try it, if anything it was the experience of the shop itself. Besides, Aigis was not like to tease her... she thought. She placed the order for both of them politely, albeit with a nervous smile. When the waitress left she turned her eyes to her companion.
“ What do you think so far, Aigis? There are a lot of people here enjoying their drinks— a few of them are probably from Gekkoukan. ”

Minako places the last cake down just in time to catch the semi-circle of Fuuka’s smile reflect in the silver and wrap around the curve of crimped paper. She matches her own to the next over, and loses herself to the image until that guiding voice draws her back. She’d nearly forgotten they’d in fact done this for the joy of someone besides themselves!
Hands find hips in bracing for imaginary insult, and an eyebrow lifts in her companion’s direction. Hesitancy in both statements keeps her energy at courteous low levels. Almost-grunted words pass through an all-too-straight face (which from this girl only betrays their hidden tone to be of opposite affection), “If he doesn’t, then we just smush one in his face and let everyone else be happy with them instead. What favor though?” she nudges in every way besides literal, “You know if I can do it, I will!”
「✖ ✖ 」: Minako’s usual expressive countenance soothes the wrinkles from her own, though her hands lightly make a wringing motion about her fingers. The other girl’s playful threat releases’s a giggle from Fuuka’s lips, which she stifles with a once preoccupied hand. The action sets her smile firmly back in place. She leans her small frame against the table, now more confidant in her request.
“ Well... ” She begins hesitantly. “ I’m worried... about Shinjiro-senpai. ”
She glances around, and if wary, and sighs to release the remainder of her nerves. Fuuka wasn’t usually one to stick her nose into other people’s business, but her concerns manifested like shadows inside of Tartarus. She felt helpless in the face of it. All of S.E.E.S. were like a family to her, but she lacked the resources to take action as she was now.
“ Um— aren’t you two... close? I was wondering if you could perhaps... I mean, just make sure he’s... really okay. ”
Sliding doors opened as the two entered the large market. Turning, the Hierophant grabbed a basket Shinji wanting to pick up a few extra items since they were here.
“No…” was his only response.
While it would be faster if the two split up and got what they needed he had agreed to help her with her cooking endeavors and apart of that was learning how to shop.
“Alright so first things first. Since this is your first time shopping with me we’ll go through the basics. You said we’re low on milk and that we were out of apples so we’ll obviously pick those up.” Walking slower than usual so she could keep up, they approached the fruits and vegetables. Gripping an apple he turned it over in his hand before giving it a small squeeze.
“Obviously avoid ones with bruises and that are soft, they’ll go bad faster” he said, tossing the apple back into the pile before picking up a few more. Shinji reached towards the back with ease
“Generally the best ones are in the back because of how the apples are stacked” Turning them over he put a few in a plastic bag before tossing her one. “What do you think about that one?” he asked her quietly
「✖ ✖ 」: She hung back momentarily at his initial response, planning to simply follow along to stay out of the way. The older boy seemed a bit miffed at the company, he probably was used to shopping on his own. She felt like a child toddling behind their mother, though it was best not to say that out loud.
When he spoke again the navigator was immediately attentive, straightening her shoulders while she watched him pick over the fruits displayed before them. While her arms might have just brushed the top of them, her companion was able to secure several. When he tossed one to her she fumbled it— thankfully she hadn’t been the one holding the basket. Luckily she didn’t drop it. She glanced over it analytically.
“ It’s quite firm... and the skin is shiny. ” She replied.
She wasn’t usually too bad at picking apples... she thought. Though she had grabbed them in a hurry once or twice. Shinjiro was quite meticulous it seemed. She handed it back to be returned to the bag, a small smile gracing her face. She was happy to be able to get to know him even a bit better.
“ Would you like me to carry the basket? ”

「✖ ✖ 」: The finger pressed firmly in the middle of her forehead, causing her to scrunch her eyes shut in surprise, hands gripping one another as they rested below her collar bone. When the hand retracted she peered up with smoky brown eyes curiously. After a moment, a smile manifests on her features, her own hand touching the spot gingerly.
“ I’m… worrying too much, aren’t I? Thank you. ”

❝Oh no, I’m actually on leave….for awhile actually.❞
「✖ ✖ 」: “ I've always thought it would be amazing to learn something like martial arts... though, I can’t even do the splits! My punches are probably... pretty weak. ”
”Not quite. You just need to redo the clasp. Let me show you…”
「✖ ✖ 」: “ Oh... I see! How odd to have a clasp on clothing. I... don’t shop for clothes very often. Perhaps I’m out of the loop? ”
whoops i’ve been doing all my drafts on Rise and have been kinda quiet over here... i will defs be active here tonight (aka be doing my drafts) so mutuals please like this post for a one liner or leave a lovely comment for multipara!
“I’m not quite sure myself, honestly. If we grin and bear it, it has to be over shortly.”
「✖ ✖ 」: “ I've... never worn anything so fancy before! Um— like this? Ah! I think I broke it!”
She has learned better than to try to hide small frustrations from Fuuka as she might from others. Trying to lie to someone with the power of detection only made things significantly worse. Minako offers a little more of her grief in prayer to the Priestess, and Fuuka lets on a little more of the hidden intelligence she gathers to the Fool - a beautiful partnership that pulled the girls close pretty quickly.
Though, Fuuka’s sensitivity to other people’s moods has also taught Minako to be more proactive in their communications, hence the physical reassurance and repentant redirect of plans which the other gratefully seems to accept. It helps them both feel better.
She whips up the mix in no time as the strawberries are sliced and then Fuuka works her magic of an engineer’s design to make everything absolutely gorgeous. These suckers could be on the cover of a baker’s magazine!
As one girl laughs, the other begins coughing. She had made the mistake of trying to beat flour out of fabric while still wearing her uniform, and it did nothing but dust her own face white as well. One of these days she’d remember to bother with an apron. Glee still stretches her lips tightly upwards, though, and she hears the next idea regarding a serving tray. She’s about to suggest silver, but the very plate imagined appears in front of her.
“Beautiful. Just beautiful!” she cheers.
As they begin carefully transferring goodies (only a little bit late!), Minako grins, “Looks like we need to start learning from each other, girl. I’ll keep helping you with the baking part, if you teach me about decorating. Those were some fantastic ideas!”
「✖ ✖ 」: Fuuka glides an arm over her forehead, her hands still coated in baking residue. Indeed, they have made quite the effort, and in the long run it seems to have paid off. Her smile is uncharacteristically wide, the apples of her cheeks swelling. Her heart was even pounding with excitement and pride. Minako’s encouraging words only added kindle to the fire, joy tumbling about her insides.
Carefully she picked up another cake, she and the other girl both strategically placing them upon the serving dish. Once all of them were organized she brought her hands together gleefully.
“ They really are! ” She agrees whole-heartedly. “ I really hope he’ll like them! ”
She wiped her hands on her apron to clean them what little she could, sparing a glance to her friend idly. A thought briefly crossed her mind, and she toyed with whether or not to voice it. Her eyes wandered to her feet, tilting her head a faction before looking up again.
“ Um... Minako-chan? ” She queried. “ Actually— I was wondering if I could ask you a favour... ”

「✖ ✖ 」: “ ...Did you hear that? ”
Fingers gripped the pan a little tighter as she told him that the chicken was missing. Though his expression hadn’t changed, the Hierophant was mildly upset. Chicken was expensive…he’d purchased it specifically for tonight
“You did see it this morning…I put it away this morning. Someone must have taken it” Shinji twisted the knob on the stove, the fire extinguishing as he covered the vegetables with a top before turning to her while pulling off his apron.
His mind raced behind steel gray eyes as he slowly eliminated members of the dorm who could have possibly taken a whole chicken. He stopped suddenly eyes flickering as he realized that there was only one person that could have possibly taken and eaten an entire chicken
“Aki…”
Damn him…he was exactly the type to have taken it too. Fingers curled into fists before the Hierophant shook his head and made his way across the lounge.
“cmon, lets go”
「✖ ✖ 」: She watched him with a practised eye, every jerking movement categorized. Though quiet, a manner of action spoke on Shinjiro’s behalf, and were often key to having even the smallest inkling to understanding him. She startled late, his words registering in her mind after a moment.
“ Oh— r-right! ” She said quickly, clumsy fingers pulling the ribbon at the low of her back to loose her own apron.
She had to hurry to catch up to his long strides, the elder already on his way out of the dorms with alarming dedication. Akihiko and Shinjiro both seemed to have quite large appetites, so it surprised her little of him to suspect the other where the chicken was concerned. Though the thought of Akihiko devouring the whole foul on his own was quite a feat to imagine. He must burn it all off quite quickly.
Catching up with, she adjusted her bag on her shoulder, glancing at him now and again as they travelled in silence. When they arrived at the grocery store, it was also quiet, only a few people shopping at this time of day. She produced the recipe from her bag, though she was fairly sure they had everything else they needed.
“ We’re a bit low on milk... and everyone seemed to eat the apples last time. ” She commented. “ Have you... noticed anything else? ”
