This blog will mostly have stuff about the oc himself instead of roleplaying, though there might be the occasional roleplay sprinkled in here.

All about Hongyun :)

Tidbits about his forgetfulness: Never remembers to wear his blazer, eat meals, write notes Forgets names easily (but remembers dorm-mates) Can remember if there is repetition to learning it

Things about Chinese dragon fae (hc time): Very common in the east Said to bring good luck & bountiful harvest They are usually proficient in weather magic

Background:

Hongyun was raised in the imperial court following his father's footsteps of becoming a diplomat, his father had a more peaceful way of going about things contrary to court beliefs. Hongyun was always told never to reveal his cards too early.

When Hongyun turned 164 he received his invitation to NRC, his father was overjoyed and they ate out in celebration. A couple weeks later Hongyun's father was killed by a selfish noble, he tried reporting it but no one in the royal family would do anything about it, and soon the diplomat role was going to be filled by Hongyun.

They decided that they would go to NRC to pave their own life for themselves and as a result he left a deep stain upon their family honor, he was disowned and his paternal grandmother was made matriarch of the clan.

His first year at NRC was uneventful after he realized that he'd already been taught most of these subjects, but what really fascinated him was the stark change in social norms, poorer people rising above their station, the rich mingling with the common crowd. Sometimes he wishes he'd been placed in Scarabia, but he'd heard a noble was the dorm head, and this noble was overtly friendly. He was okay with being in Diasomnia even though a literal prince was in charge, he barely ever has to see him and when he did, the prince wouldn't bother him.

Over the winter break he hung out in Tarry town taking on odd jobs and earning some cash for supplies. Though on his summer break he traveled to the Scalding sands and accidentally became employed by a local gang. While escaping he finally mastered his signature spell "Mist Breather", it allows Hongyun to breathe out an expansive cloud of 'mist' that muddles the senses. He had been working on it while in the court when he needed to get out of a situation without alerting people of his escape.

Now in his second year at Night Raven, much more interesting things are happening...

1 - meloghia, elbaite + rubellite

gay:vale! meloghia has an i7 hnk au I help out with sometimes, so I just had to draw some of them! I couldn't draw Iori/Kyanite because I always draw them, but his designs for re:vale were too good I just had to,,, the fact they make electricity when they touch,, replace their bodies with one anothers... two halves of a whole... its too good. One of the reasons I love hnk au's from a drawing perspective is that you're reliant heavily on the poses being visually interesting and also since they're gems you can put them in whatever poses you want. I really like this one!! The chemical formula along the side is the formula for watermelon tourmaline.

2 - @neodith, hongyun

A revenge! Neodith drew my lovely Daeya, so I drew Hongyun! Mist breather sounded like such a cool ultimate magic, so that was my inspiration. Another one where I had to use my own hand for reference, and I'm happy with how it came out! The mist especially, I was just going to make it cloudy when I remembered Kazuha genshin impact and his splash art had these specific curly wind depictions and that was where the mist came from!

3 - lunratic, ruby (Cassia)

A year late revenge! I adored Cassia's design; I love multicoloured hair! This one is relatively simple, but it was so lovely to do. Very soothing. I put a pink filter on top to tie all the colours together, I truly do adore pink/reds, they're my favourite colour.

4 - tartine-_-, ???

Another year late revenge... they drew Hiroaki! Wow, another multi-coloured hair character,,, what a surprise! Seriously though, it's such a gentle design, very soft. Reminds me of a beach and the sea, and I wanted the art to be similarly soft. Simple, but again very soothing to do.

Background~

Born in the Coral Sea somewhere, he lost his parents... Well he's not quite sure how he lost them, it's a bit of a blur, spent most of his life wandering and searching for something. He just can't remember what he was searching for... His spell led him to land where he managed to be invited to NRC, he decided to enroll to possibly find what he's been searching for... Wait what was this about again?

Personality~

He's extremely forgetful, oftentimes forgetting places he'd been only moments prior, though he makes up for his lack of memory with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. His favorite color is yellow and he sometimes wishes he'd been placed in Savannaclaw... The only clear thing he seems to remember is that he's searching for something... Someone?

Why Hongyun is at NRC instead of RSA:

he has no qualms about the action of lying to get what you want (its the lying with malicious intent that he doesn't like)

lawful neutral alignment, has a moral code, but ultimately will do whats best for his well being

likes to play swapping tricks on ppl (shampoo for lotion, cheese for lard, salt for sugar, etc.)

will sometimes use his magic for dubious purposes

i mean, he doesn't do these things often enough for him to be problematic, but does it enough to be in NRC
