Being a therian - Is this cool?
Being a therian is an identity. It means identifying as a nonhuman animal. Sounds cool? I doubt.
It's neither cool nor is it uncool. It's an identity, nothing more and nothing less. There are pros and cons, just like in any other identity. Otherhearted, gender, social positioning and whatnot, whatever you see and understand as an identity, the list is endless.
What are your pros and cons?
My pros: I am a cetacean, something elegant and imposing. I am a generally chill person and very relaxed, which I see to be coming from my identity. I believe in past lives and so think I've been a whale shark in my past life. That makes me wanting to learn more about myself and my past life, more about the whale shark I was and still am. It makes me wonder and think differently from other humans, which I see as a sweet thing as I view things differently than an average human does.
My cons: I feel lonely. I feel so damn lonely as the only whale shark out there. I don't have anyone near me who understands my pain to be on land the whole time, to not be able to swim regularly, to not be able to do the filter feeding technique, to not breathe through gills... It's painful as heck.
Yes and no. You see, there are some pros and many cons. In every identity you will find those. It doesn't make you cool or uncool, it just makes you different. It makes you an individual. So, therianthropy is not "cool", it just is.
Please stop thinking you were uncool for being something else than a therian. Therianthropy is as valid as otherpaw, otherhearted, otherkin, fictionkin, human and on and on. You are what you are and you should be proud of that!
